He narrowed his eyes and cleared his throat before coming up with an uneasy excuse. “Luckily, I was in the neighborhood. And I had no choice but to rush in when I saw you standing like a fool before the approaching car.”

Amelia blinked a few times, a baffled gaze in her eyes. Even though she wanted to believe him, his uneasy tone and intent to avoid her gaze, raised skepticism in her heart. Since yesterday, she still couldn’t get rid of the memory of Cassius’s missing reflection in the mirror, and now his inept gesture was quite suspicious.

However, Aziel was sharp to realize her inner turmoil as he watched her suddenly go quiet.
