Bab 31: Chapter 27
The wind and snow obstructed his view while he was waiting for it.
Breeze*
Every step that thing took caused more obstruction to his view. Snow and wind were getting heavier and heavier. The normal weather immediately turned into the worst blizzard which you could hear from the fairytale.
Licht bit his lips to wake up from his drowsiness. He carefully placed the twig next to him and observed the situation. The snow had completely blinded him and the wind was getting harsher. Licht couldn't see anything and hear anything.
Crunch*
Suddenly, he heard a step. It was point-blank to him. The steps weren't made by humans or bipedal animals. It was a four-footed animal that was large enough to shadow his vision. Moreover, this animal had the absolute power of ice to rule.
Licht patiently waited for its arrival as he lay down in the snow. Fortunately, the snow was preserving his heat in this cold weather.
Step*
Finally, the beast came right in front of his eyes. Its giant paws stopped right before him.
Breeze*
It exhaled a large amount of icy fog-like gas as it breathed. Strangely, Licht could feel its temperature which was icy cold to chill his bones and his body.
The beast lowered its head and peeked at him with a blank look. It was distinctly a wolf which was similar to the wolf before. However, it had deep blue eyes and pure white fur with ice shards on its body. The ice shards were like armor to protect the wolf from the attack.
The wolf tilted his head and revealed its giant fangs. It opened its mouth slightly.
" A human child. Why are hiding from me?"
Licht was surprised to hear its voice because only high-order monsters and beasts could communicate with normal people. He raised himself from the snow and looked up at it.
He couldn't believe what he was seeing. The wolf was much bigger than he guessed. It was even more menacing at a close look.
The wolf looked at Licht once again. He silently lowered his head and bit his jacket's hood. Then he lifted Licht and turned around to the cave.
As for Licht, he couldn't react to the situation due to his shock. This wolf wasn't a simple creature to be trifled with as it carried him like it was nothing.
Bang*
The wolf had returned to its nest in a single leap from the top. His giant body landed smoothly on the ice even though it was smooth as a mirror. The wolf carried him all way up to the end.
The cave wasn't filled with blood or stench. It was a beautiful cave with crystal-clear ice. The ice reflected the light and illuminated the whole cave with a sharp light.
Stop*
The wolf stopped its movement while he placed Licht down. He gently threaded on the ice and laid down on the huge throne-like an ice sculpture. His body perfectly fit into the throne despite his body's size and weight.
Licht looked around him with puzzlement because he felt something was familiar with this place. It was like his home where it was free and silent. Licht felt his mind was refreshed in this ice cave.
The wolf lowered its head to match his vision. His giant eyes focused on his face as to whether he was acting or not.
" It has been a long time since I have seen the human child. They used to come here a lot and have a conversation with me."
Licht looked at him with respect albeit in his position. He understood this wolf wasn't a simple intelligent creature. He took a deep breath and asked with a gentle tone to ease up the situation.
" Who are you?"
The wolf sighed with sadness in its eyes. He missed his children and his friends whom he met on his way.
" My kind was the guardian of this region along with my other siblings and their followers, but one day everything changed. There was a group of fallen gods who called themselves- Fallen. They invaded my home and ravaged our land. Therefore, I attacked them with my pack. We sustained heavy casualties and I have lost many of my children."
