Bab 12: Chapter 11
The kingdom of Alba…
Tobias pov :
I am currently having breakfast with the entire family plus Helton my father's loyal advisor.
My father was updating me on the advancement in the tax case while we also discussed other trivial matters , my mother of course was scolding us for talking about politics during family time.
"Your majesties the Duke and miss Thelma have arrived" one of the maids inform us, they came just in time as I don't have any obligations for today and hence can welcome them wholeheartedly.
"Take their luggages to the guest rooms and guide them in the living room we will join them there." My dad says to the maid then he looks at me "well my son it seems your future wife has arrived at last" I laugh at his teasing and simply nod, I still don't want to jump into that topic as I don't even know what is Thelma's take on the situation, I'll have a talk with her later in the day.
Once we are done with breakfast we head to the living room to greet our guests . The Duke of Persia Simon is the first one who greets us "Your majesties, pleasure to reunite with you" he bows at us and then his daughter steps forward and bows too. Thelma didn't change much since back then , she has always been very beautiful and radiated a powerful and chic aura that attracts people naturally to her.
She smiles at me and I do the same.
"Well then I think Tobias and Thelma have a lot to catch up on , you two can go along , I will keep my friend the Duke company in the mean time." My father says while giving me a quick nod.
Thelma and I walk around for a bit as I show her around the palace and we recall several memories we made here , we then head towards the garden to sit on the beautiful swing in the middle to chat for a little.
"So how was your journey? Not too tiring I hope?" I ask her.
"Not really , The roads your father built has greatly facilitated traveling from Persia to Alba. But of course even if it was to be a long and tiring journey I wouldn't regret it for it would mean seeing my childhood best friend once again" she says in her soft silky voice as she smiles at me. I really missed her , now that I see her I realize we should have kept contact all these years after all we did have a bond , but both our duties were being prioritized by our families so we couldn't find time to see each other.
"Indeed , Thelma I am really glad that you could come back and I am sorry we had to wait this long to reunite" I say as I hug her.
"It's alright Tobias , after all we both had our duties to our future country men , speaking of which , did your parents mention anything about us getting married as a way to unite both kingdoms and strength Alba?"
"Yes they did , what do you think of it? Would it be a bother or rather a blessing?" I genuinely want to know and make sure she is not feeling pressured to marry me. This is a choice of a lifetime and shouldn't be taken lightly.
"To be honest Tobias , I have carried deep affection for you ever since we were young and it hasn't changed one bit so if I am to become your future wife and queen it would be an honor for me , not only because I deeply love you but also because I respect the leader your are becoming" wow , I never thought she would still feel this way after all these years.
"Same here Thelma , I have known you my whole life and if I am to choose a wife I would rather it be you over a complete stranger" she smiles gently at me and we both talk until the sun sets before our eyes.
Back at the Yuril's house…
Ethera's pov :
I look in the mirror at my amulet that connects me to miss Avery from the future. I still can't believe she managed to pass through time and reach here in Alba, she must come from a world with incredible technology, i would love to know more about that . I guess we both have something in common, we both like learning new things and just research in general.
I wonder if I can just talk to her casually.
"Um hello , miss Avery? Can you hear me?" I wait for a while then I hear "Ethera? Is that you? oh my gosh girl don't scare my like that!" I laugh because i probably woke her up or something.
"Sorry miss Avery , I just wanted to check if we could casually communicate with the amulets"
"It's aight girl , I was also curious at some point but can you not call me miss Avery , it's very formal sounding I don't like that. And we are partners as for now so we should be on first name basis with no honorific , okay?" I nod in the mirror forgetting she can only hear me and not see me "okay then I'll try my best Avery , and also thank you for accepting to help me with the debutante season , I was really struggling before you came along" I realized Avery is quite my opposite, she speaks with confidence and expresses herself very clearly which is what I need to pass smoothly through this debutante facade.
"It's not big deal Ethera , really. I am the one who should thank you for allowing to stay a little longer so I can explore more of your world. I am actually a college student in my reality and I major in history so I write and research a lot about past events , we are now covering your kingdom Alba so me going there helps me get more details and insights for my end of semester paper" wow she really has an interesting life but I got to ask "what is college Avery?" She chuckles "well I guess you guys don't have that yet , it is one the three levels of education ; there is primary(middle school) , high school then college which is the last step then you graduate and search for a qualified job"
"Wow that seems very interesting, I wish I could read about that"
"That's easy , next time I come I will bring you some books about various topics of education with some notes so you can learn a few things" even though we don't have those systems of education we do learn how to read and write from a young age but that's about it.
"That would be great thanks . Um Avery I hope you are ready for what is next in the debutante season. We are having a ball and it is there that they proclaim those who have passed and become respectable ladies, i don't know if I will still be picked since I made quite a lot of mistakes in dance class"
"Don't stress about it Ethera you will be picked I will make sure of it , I think I have an idea on how we can fix that little mistake , you will see" I really do trust her , she will definitely find a way.
"Ethera, who are you talking to?" Heizel says as she enters my room . Oh oh !
