Bab 11: Chapter 10
New York City…
Avery's pov;
I squint my eyes open and realize I am back in my uncle's storage room for the vortex. I guess I'm back in my reality, but why is it still night? I am pretty sure I spent a lot more time than that in Alba, maybe time passes faster there it would make more sense.
What a crazy experience that was.
I should probably get out of here now before it becomes suspicious how much time I spent here , I take one last look at the vortex and walk through the door handing the key to the staff present.
An hour later I arrive at the appartement and see Sheila day dreaming , I guess her day was filled with 'love' thanks to her dear 'Gary' ew lovestruck, *shake my head "hey lovesick puppy!" I yell and Sheila looks at me and sticks her tongue out at me
"First of all that's not true, second of all what took you so long?"
"Geez sometimes I think you are my mom or something *laugh I am sorry I delayed okay? We're you bored without me?" She rolled her eyes at me "At least tell me all the tea , were you late because you met a guy or something?" I mean technically I met a lot of them but I don't think I should tell her my adventurous time in Alba just yet because she might think I've gone crazy.
"Not exactly , I stayed with my uncle at the auditorium to take a closer look at the vortex infinity, which was pretty impressive I have to admit"
"I know right! Like your uncle is a genius for real , that machine will help so many people who need escape , it might even help people see those they miss because they are dead and maybe that may help them heal." And above that one can travel to different periods in time , but again can't say this. I have to talk to my uncle about this though , I have to know if he knew it would be able to do that.
"Yeah truly I have an amazing uncle and If I want to be amazing myself one day I better get back to studying and you should too so maybe you will return to this earth and forget your Prince Charming for a while" I run as fast as I can to my room before Sheila kills me once again for teasing her , I will never stop though.
Tonight was really incredible, seeing Alba with my two eyes , meeting the people there , and just the whole vibe which was clearly the opposite of today , I mean obviously it was the past.
I actually made a friend Heizel even though she doesn't know yet , it's fine, right? Yeah maybe a bit creepy plus the fact that I was in this girl Ethera's body , yeah definitely creepy. I would really like to go back though, maybe learn a thing or two for my paper because professor Gary told me to take my time on this one and submit it by the end of the semester.
I don't know if my uncle will let me go back in there if he learns I used the vortex without his permission but a girl can dream right?
Meanwhile in the KINGDOM OF ALBA…
Ethera's pov;
"Ethera dear are you ready for todays event? Heizel is going to take you to dance classes along with your comrades for the season." Why is my mother always so excited for these things? I personally don't feel comfortable wearing those uncomfortable dresses and being all chatty with the other girls , I'd rather just stay in with Heizel and grandma but of course that's a luxury i cannot afford in our situation as my mother always reminds me.
About yesterday's event I don't recall anything , I don't remember going to the debutante class, I don't remember meeting Prince Tobias or anything of the sort , why? I don't know but my grandma said she would come check up on me and see what's going on.
We arrive at the dance hall , very fancy . Every lady has a beige color satin dress and the shoes are ballerinas. It was the dress code for the class, here goes nothing, I hope I don't trip or something, I feel so nervous because Heizel couldn't enter with me and now I am in a crowd of beautiful ladies whom I can't compare to but still got to compete with for societal status as my mother always says.
"Alright ladies , each one of you advance towards your partner and start the dance position" the woman instructor was pairing us up together , two ladies make a duo , one take the role of the boy while the other takes the role of a girl and vice versa.
I am paired with a gorgeous blonde with a slim figure and fair skin , perfect combination in the beauty standards of today. Contrasting to me who is a brunette, as we decide our roles I become the guy obviously while she takes the role of the lady.
We dance for a while and I keep messing up , stepping on my partner's shoes , starting the moves late and just making a fool out of myself , the dance instructor comes up to me a few times to help out patiently but at some point the organizer of the debutante season who is a scary woman comes up to me and asks "what's wrong Mrs. Ethera? Today seems to be a complicated class for you . Weird because yesterday you were doing good , try harder okay?" I nod , here it goes again , yesterday? What happened yesterday? And how come I was good in class? I really need to know or else I will start thinking I have multiple personalities.
After the disastrous class we headed back home and my mother told me to go see my grandma in her room.
I enter her room which was filled with potion cabinets, different types of plants and many more materials for her magic. My grandma is not a witch or a bad person , she uses magic to help us and heal us when there is need.
"Come in Ethera and close the door behind you" I enter and sit on the floor with her , she holds my hands and start her incantation.
"Shamlamla shamlamla shamlamla" she chanted and told me to concentrate deep inside me to communicate with the girl who might have taken control of my body. "Ethera wear this amulet that I made with the mysterious girl's hair and yours , this might call her back here so we can figure this out" I wear the amulet and chant with grandma , then out of a sudden I loose consciousness…
Avery's pov:
"Ethera? Can you hear me my dear?" I feel like I'm being shaken by someone so I open my eyes.
First thing I see is an old lady who is wearing a lot of charms on her hands and neck , i freak out so I scream "ahhhhhhhh , who are you?" I back up a little and the old woman looks at my in wonder.
"My child , the real question is who are you? And why have you taken control of my grand daughter's body?" Grand daughter? Who? I look around and realize I am back in Alba, how do I know? Everything seems old fashioned . No offense . Wow so I just got teleported but this old lady who has visibly been practicing some sort of magic, totally not Creepy.
"Um mam there must be a misunderstanding . I am not a spirit or anything of the sort , I am actually a regular girl from the future . I know it might sound insane but trust me it's true. I used a machine that was invented there and it brought me here and since I didn't know how to go back I staged for a while but I meant no harm, of course I would love to stay a little bit to learn more about this place that is if you and Ethera are fine with it " I blabber on and on trying to plead my case because we never know she might disintegrate me in a snap if she doesn't believe me, lord have mercy on me , I'm too young to die.
"I have heard you my child and I sense a light and pure energy from you so you must be honest . Now i am going to ask my grand daughter if she minds you being here so we can settle this case" she closes her eyes for a while and I guess she is communicating with Ethera , am I going to get used
to this maybe not , but this is all I can do to stay.
"Ethera is actually asking for you to stay with her longer because she heard you do well in debutante classes and she isn't so she would like you to help her with that, I guess that is the condition for you to stay." She smiles at me , I guess I am staying longer but the issue now is how do I get here because I won't be able to use my uncle's machine anymore that's for sure , it's too risky.
"Oh by the way dear child , from now on I need you to wear this amulet that I also gave to my grand daughter , it will help both of you communicate and it will give you a direct pass to this world . Keep it safe on you always and don't misplace it.
Now you may go from and forth between both sides with ease. I think everything is okay now?" I nod , immediately the amulet I was wearing brightened up and I was absorbed back into my world and switched places with Ethera .
I guess this will be my daily routine *laugh , this is going to be so much fun.
