If this was the class that had fought against real villains than Kakashi had two questions about it. One, how the hell did they survive, and two, just how strong were the villains they were fighting? There was no way any of them would get by on the strength they had currently. His world would rip them apart.
He hadn't seen a challenge since fighting Midoriya, who was supposed to be the dead last of the class. Mineta had hardly been a challenge and Toru couldn't keep quite enough to actually sneak up on him. She was too noisy and he caught her the instant she walked. Two easy victories after a rather tough one.
He looked over back at the group of students as a girl named Jiro was called down. She stepped down, looking at him unflinchingly, even from seeing his previous fights.
The other two were terrified of him, she showed more confidence. He'd see how far it would get her. He couldn't lie, he was interested in testing all of their fighting ability, so far, if Midoriya was the scale they would measure him by, losing to anyone below him would automatically give Aizawa a reason to call him out, or even watch him more closely.
He didn't need that.
So he had to play this smart.
"Start!"
The match was called, but Kakashi stared, his eyes scanning her for any sign of her quirk. Two long lines with something metal on the end of her ears caught his attention. He didn't know what they were but did know that it was most likely her quirk, or a feature of it.
"Show him what for, Jiro!" Someone cheered in the background. Sounded like an idiot. Kakashi felt a little annoyed.
He could already tell that she was a long range fighter, most likely anyway. She didn't have the build of a fighter. And that meant the only reason she hadn't moved was because she was waiting on him to move first.
Lightning sparked in one of his hands. She didn't move, but her eyes moved to it, and bead of sweat dropped down her face.
He hit the ground, lightning began to pass through it, and he disappeared.
She must've been watching him closely from the last few matches. She instantly leaped away to the side and covered up just as Kakashi appeared in front of her. Her next moves were completely unexpected. Both of the end of her lobes shot out, and because of his surprise, he was able to grab onto both of the ends before they could go for his ears.
He didn't know it was one of the worst things he could do.
His entire body began to vibrate violently and shook him to his core because he didn't expect that she could still attack him. The lobes slipped out of his hand as he was tackled to the ground, Jiro's hands slipping around his abdomen as her lobes aimed for his ear. He stopped the right one, but his left one got caught.
The next feeling felt like his brain was being scrambled. A loud scraping sound filled his entire being and he shook violently.
He paced underneath her and she began to pant, thinking that she had won. Kakashi finally got her technique down. She was a long range fighter that actually had intelligence and watched to see how he fought, and planned ahead accordingly. Though, it still only worked because he wasn't used to fighting with one eye. It was hard to see something as small as the weapons she used to fight.
But she didn't know of his abilities very well.
Chakra filled his being and lightning suddenly shot from his palm, shocking her.
She screamed, falling back off him and laid on the ground, jittering as volts continued to run through her.
Kakashi panted for air, slowly getting to his feet. She had been the closest to actually beating him. He'd gotten too complacent, he needed to be careful. Even if they were less trained, they had powers that could catch him off guard without his Sharingan and using only one eye.
"That's it, Kakashi wins."
As Aizawa called the match, Kakashi looked at his hand. He had to get stronger it seemed, without using the Chidori or his Sharingan. If someone he considered fodder could do this much damage than he wasn't as strong as he thought he was.
"Kaminari, you're up." Aizawa droned out.
A boy with yellow spikey hair came down to step in front of him, yellow sparks of electricity coming from his open palm as he smirked.
Kakashi stared; this guy was idiot. He should be trying to hide his power from Kakashi since he already knew what Kakashi's was.
He wouldn't do much with Kakashi's same power but he might catch him off guard. Depending on how strong his was he could definitely do a lot of damage if he hit him one.
"Go on, let me see your electricity. Let's see who's stronger."
The spark in his hand that had been small, grew, but it didn't look the least bit controlled. It looked like it just went anywhere.
Kakashi narrowed his eyes and rushed forward. The boy smirked and lightning flew toward him, well, in all directions really.
He definitely didn't have much control.
Kakashi leaped high in the air and swerved down to right in front of him. Kaminari aimed his hand like a gun, and a small line of lightning shot from his finger.
Kakashi suddenly disappeared and reappeared behind Kiminari who was non the wiser. A swift but non lethal kick to the head later and the yellow head was buried into the wall across the gym.
Kakashi landed on the ground afterwards, disappointed that someone with powers similar to his was an idiot with no battle sense. He hadn't sense Kakashi one time unless Kakashi was within eye sight and he had barely any control of where his electricity went.
And easy battle, and he hadn't even use his power.
A lot of his next matches were like that.
He danced around Sero's tape and slammed a fist in his gut, knocking him out.
He dodged Aoyama's impressively fast laser but after that the boy was queasy and a punch to his gut knocked him unconscious.
Asui had actually been somewhat of a challenge because of the fact that she could hop around pretty quickly and the way she used her tongue, but once he got used to her speed and her fighting style, he outpaced her and simply slammed a fist into her gut.
Sato had been more of a challenge since Jiro but that was more because of his strength and durability. He was so slow though that he couldn't land any attack on Kakashi and once his time limit was up for his quirk, he got sleepy and Kakashi put him to sleep with a well placed punch to the gut.
His next opponent; Koda was even less impressive. He had a good quirk but his animals were much to slow and Koda couldn't react to him after he'd baited his animals and away and went for the controller. Another well placed punch to the gut, another knock out.
"G-guess it's my turn." Uraraka said with a nervous grin, body shaking a bit but fist up by her face.
"You can do it, Uraraka! Show him what for!" Mina cheered.
Internally, she hoped the other girl would win. Her stomach already hurt just thinking about how Kakashi would hit her.
The gravity girl stepped in front of the one eyed boy, leveling her gaze at him.
Kakashi narrowed his eyes when she bent down a bit more into a combat ready stance. Was she planning on fighting him close up? She didn't look that strong. If she did, he would break through her offense and knock her down.
Though first he would observe her. If she saw how he fought and still wanted to fight him in hand to hand, then her quirk was either perfect for it or she had no other choice.
Suddenly, she smiled at him.
"You're a lot less intimidating up close."
She walked around the room, and began to tap on the debris the other fights caused.
Behind them, Bakugo acknowledged her. She already had a plan. Most of her classmates seemed to remember the move and smirked.
Kakashi watched in surprise as the large and small pieces of the debris began to float up into the air. He looked back at her as she turned back to him. She slapped her cheeks and let out a breath.
She was ready to fight him, her plan would work.
She ran at Kakashi, and while she was faster than he'd expected she was still too slow to cause him any trouble.
She let out a yell as she aimed a jab at him. Kakashi slipped underneath it and aimed at fist at her gut but she wanted him to do that, she blocked his fist with the wrist of her other hand and grabbed onto his arm with her other hand.
Kakashi felt her tug on him and was carried away as she leaped back with all her strength. Kakashi looked up, seeing the largest boulder floating right above them.
He realized that she was planning to either corner him or hit him, or both. He was about to wretch his arm away from her grip when he suddenly lost control of his body.
His eyes widened and he waved his limbs around to catch onto something, but there was nothing to grab. She had caught him, he should've realized it but his focus got distracted on the floating rock above him. Her quirk needed physical contact to activate.
She leapt away, putting her fingers together as she did.
Kakashi felt weight coming back to him and gravity made his descent instant. He was going to land on his feet but soon found out that the rock was going to land on him if he didn't do something. Lightning sparked in his hand, he didn't think that the first time he would be using this technique would be for the 10th place of the class.
"Chidori!"
His foot tapped the ground, then he shot up.
Uraraka covered her face as the rock exploded from the attack and the other debris she had touched shook the ground as the landed heavily.
Her eyes widened when she felt someone grab her wrist. She couldn't do anything as her head was grabbed and she was sent right into the ground face first.
She gritted her teeth as a weight climbed itself on her back, and when she forced herself to look back, it was Kakashi, staring down at her.
"Kakashi wins."
"Did you see that?"
Midoriya turned to Todoroki who was gazing icily at Kakashi.
"He moved so fast in an instant, he barely touched the floor."
Midoriya remembered that. He raised his speed so high, so quickly. Midoriya was sure he saw a spark of electricity. Could he boost his speed with his quirk? How was it different from Kiminari's quirk? What other things could he do with it?
So many questions!
"Motor mouth Midoriya." Mina snickered off to the side.
Midoriya blushed, having not realized that he had been muttering all of that.
"I'm surprised." Bakugo finally said with narrow eyes. "He moved so fast in an instant. Her attack should've hit him, but he blew through it like it was nothing and got behind her."
"He also moved through the smoke and other distractions." Momo pointed out. "He's don't that twice now. Once against Midoriya, and once again just now. For any of the next fights, please assume that distracting him at any level will not work."
"So he's faster than most of us, quicker, a strategic thinker, more experienced, and has a good handle on how to use his quirk." Kirishima listed off, looking at Momo. "Anything else I'm missing?"
He asked, deadpanning.
"Well, he's adaptable and has a good amount of stamina."
She added more nervously. Was she talking too much or something?
"Your making me nervous Momo!"
Mina whined, pouting at her.
"I-I apologize."
"Come on, Mina." Aizawa drawled. "We have a couple of more people to get through."
Tenya raised his hand.
"Sensei, I was wondering on how exactly you're grading us if we weren't ranked on how best we fought."
"Yea." Tsu added. "The rankings would probably be a lot different if it came down to that."
Aizawa looked like he wanted to say something with the way his mouth opened a little bit then closed up, but it looked like he changed his mind. "I can pretty much guess what level he's at just by basing his fights on your earlier results. If I were to guess, he'd probably be right under Iida for the 50 meter dash. He'd be right under first place or first place for any of the other challenges with the exception of the ball throw and grip strength. As of now, I don't have a conclusive answer for it, and I'd rather not go off of too many assumptions." He turned his attention to his pink skinned student. "Now, Mina, don't think I forgot. You're up."
"Aw man!" She whined.
It wasn't long. One blink, one hit, one second, and one winner.
With that, Kakashi firmly cemented himself as 9th of a class of 21. It wasn't bad for anyone at all really, but he knew Aizawa would accept nothing but his best. He was already openly suspicious about Kakashi, and giving him more of a reason would only cause problems for future goals.
He glanced at the man out of the corner of his eye. But said nothing. He would only watch.
"Yea, finally my turn." A red haired boy grinned wide as he began to walk over to where they would fight at.
Kakashi immediately tried looking over his body for any type of quirk he would be able to pick out, but he looked normal. He hoped his one eye was a good enough check. He was still getting used to using it primarily.
The boy stepped in front of him, still grinning and cracked his knuckles. "Honestly, you didn't seem all that strong when I first say you but now that I see how manly you are, it's time for you to face a true hero! Red Riot! Make the best man win!"
Kakashi ignored his rambling and got into a fighting stance. Fast, lightning fast was his motto. This would end with a single hit.
Aizawa took a glance at them both. "Begin!" He yelled waving his arm down.
Kakashi sprinted forward, resting his fist back and watching him carefully for counterattacks. The boy either couldn't react to him or was baiting him in. Kakashi didn't think the boy could move fast enough though.
He was right, but he didn't hit flesh.
He clutched his hand as he stumbled, it felt like something had snapped. He should've known that this was going to be his quirk. A defensive type quirk like this could spell trouble. He was sure nothing but lethal intent would get him past this one.
He was given barely any time to rest, dodging a fist that would've sent him into the ground. The ground blew apart violently, and Kakashi watched it carefully as he landed. That would've been him if the boy hit him. Immense defense, great power, and ok speed. A good combo. For someone like Kakashi, who couldn't use his strongest attacks, he was at a disadvantage.
Still, he obviously lacked in skill.
That was Kakashi's specialty.
But first, a quick test.
Kakashi runs at the boy, and he smirks leaving himself wide open. Kirishima's eyes widen when Kakashi disappears mere seconds before hitting him and has no idea Kakashi is behind him.
Kakashi goes low and tries to sweep him off his feet. He felt something snap, he should've known he could harden his entire body at once. Kakashi grunts in pain, but as a Shinobi is more than used to it and rolls away on the ground before it is crushed by Kirishima's fist.
He's already using chakra to swept that pain away for a small while as he flips off the ground and lands on his feet.
Kakashi's got a clear idea of what this boy was about. He had natural fighting instincts and a quirk that was useful for fighting recklessly. Wait, fighting recklessly.
That was how he was going to win.
He narrowed his eyes and widened his stance. He walks slowly up to Kirishima not taking his eyes off him.
To the side, Aizawa narrows his eyes.
Kakashi is too focused to notice it.
Kirishima smirks again, slamming his fist together. "I'm as hard as they come. Your fighting won't be able to get past my defenses."
Kakashi would see if he could hold that statement up. He finally reaches him, and Kirishima lashes out with a predictable punch. A dodge, a turn, and a grab later and Kakashi flips the hardened boy over his head and slams him into the ground.
Class 1A stumbled a small bit from the ground shaking as a boom went off.
Kakashi uses that to his advantage and uses his arm to put him in a hold, bringing it back as far as he can without breaking it.
Kirishima grunts, trying to hold the sound in as he glances behind him to see Kakashi. He tried to grab at him with his other hand, but stops when the pain on his right grows and he feels his arm about to snap.
Kakashi was surprised at the boys durability, even utilizing his weakness made him realize that the boy wasn't going to give up instantly. Kakashi was rather impressed, though he knew the boy wouldn't last much longer. A twitch backwards would snap his shoulder out of place for sure. Kakashi would rather avoid that.
"That's it, Kakashi wins." Aizawa announces dryly, pretty much saving his student from a broken arm. "Let him go."
Kakashi drops the arm immediately and gets off him. Another match won, but looking into Aizawa's eyes showed that he showed something he hadn't previously.
A different style of fighting.
While it was something new, it honestly wasn't that bad. Plus, his only other options were revealing more of his bigger more powerful techniques. A necessary action has to be taken to prevent that.
"Aw, what!" Despite being in a lock prior, the red head shot to his feet. "Sensei, why'd you call the match?! I didn't quit!"
"Don't be a fool, Kirishima. He had you pinned and you had no way of escaping without breaking your arm. You let your overconfidence in the fact that you had a quirk well suited to take down his abilities cloud your judgment. He used that against you and won. Learn from it and know when you've lost. I much would've rather seen you quit than fight a losing battle." Aizawa explained critically.
He gestured back at his other students. "Go back to them, we have to finish before class ends. Understand?"
Kirishima sighed dejectedly, his skin going back to normal and he walked away with his head lowered. "Yes, Sensei."
Kakashi watches him walk away. He had potential.
His next three fights were all interesting in their own ways but he quickly subdued them all.
Ojiro was a close range fighter, and even with his extra appendage he wasn't much more than a good fight with a extra appendage to watch out for. In close quarters, he dominated.
Shoji was actually a challenge a bit. He was pretty smart and came up with a sound strategy against him, using his extra appendages to both look for him, listen for him, and defend if he got close. Only problem was that he wasn't fast enough to actually react to Kakashi. It wasn't long before he got put to sleep with a quick punch.
Tokoyami had a rather good quirk for keeping him at bay but when he used a little bit of his lightning, the thing shriveled up and Tokoyami was quickly put to sleep, having no skill besides using his sentient quirk.
The fights allowed him to rest, for he didn't realize that a rather big one was coming to him. Tenya Iida, their class representative, and 4th in the class.
He walks over and then bows at Kakashi who only stares, not bothering to do the same.
"It is an honor to be fighting you Hatake-San! I hope you do well!"
Kakashi could tell the boy was completely serious. He kinda acted like Ebisu when he thought back to it. Too serious for his own good really.
Honestly, top 5 was a good place for him to lose, but it wouldn't make sense if he couldn't just lose. I mean he got this far, he could say he was tired. He had a mask on, it wasn't like Aizawa could see he wasn't even a little bit tired.
But if he was going to fake losing he'd have to use his opponents quirk to his own advantage.
"Begin." Aizawa called.
The exhaust pipes on Tenya's calves light up and he bursts forward speeding through the air with amazing speed.
He was fast, but he could still be tracked. Kakashi leaped up into the air and landed behind Tenya and dashed at him. He could only turn around before his head shot up from a nasty uppercut.
He stumbled back but Kakashi never let up, letting off half a dozen strikes that landed on the much taller boy. Suddenly, his engines roared to life and his leg shot up. Kakashi leaned back, barely avoiding being hit in the jaw before flipping backwards and landing on his feet.
His power rested in his leg. He obviously had no type of hand to hand combat and relied solely on his quirk to get him by. Just like the rest of his class.
He dashed forward once more and ducked underneath a kick and leaped forward, grabbing the boy by his face and sending him into the ground, knocking him unconscious. Kakashi blinked. Once more the dead last had given him the most challenge so far.
"Tenya lost?! How? He's so fast!" Mina shrieked.
"It's precisely because he's fast that he lost. His opponent is someone that is trained in actual combat. Easily predictable kicks, no matter how fast will he dodge able for someone with skill. Even seeing him fight our classmates, clearly you won't be able to fully not underestimate him until you're over there fighting him." Todoroki narrowed eyes as Tenya was hauled away by robots.
"Watch out, extras! I'll show you how to get it done like an actual pro!" Bakugo shouted, bumping past Todoroki.
He only glanced at the blonde. He wanted to see how someone like Bakugo stacked up against an actual fighter. Because he was next when Bakugo lost.
Kakashi noticed how the blonde stalked up to him with an intense glare.
He grinned widely when he stepped in front of the ninja.
"So, it's finally my turn to show you up, bastard. You may have beat those extras but I'm nothing like them. This is the day where you die. There's a pecking order and I reign on the very top."
Kakashi only stared at him. He was the most talkative of all his opponents so far.
"I wonder how this is going to go." Midoriya muttered. "Kacchan is very talented and strong but Hatake seems almost untouchable. Even Iida didn't land a blow and he's the fastest of all of us."
"Bakugo'a got a sense of combat nearly unrivaled in this class."
Midoriya turned to Todoroki who had been the one to speak.
"He's tenacious. He'll give us more insight on Hatake's abilities and the way he fights."
"It kinda sounds like you don't think he'll win." Tsu pointed out, as blunt as ever.
"He won't. That honor belongs to me."
"Fight." Aizawa called out.
"It's time to die!" Bakugo yelled as he rushed forw
Bab 6: Vs Class 1-A
