Bab 8: 008
They went out once the movie ended, but it seems like the kids are still staying to watch what comes next.
Apparently, the cinema is holding a 6-hours special on Gomera movies, and Akane decided to stay and watch with them.
'It was entertaining.' Was Akane's thoughts on the movie, so he decided to stay and watch the rest.
"Big bro, will you treat us again?" Genta asked Akane, who smiled in return.
"Sure, sure. Let's get hotdogs and burgers this time. You guys fine with that?" They had popcorn earlier, so he wanted something different this time.
"I'm fine with anything, so long as it's free and delicious, big bro!" Genta asked, which caused Akane to laugh.
"Great, now get going, Sergeant! The feast awaits!"
"Aye, sir!"
While the three foodies and Akane went first, Conan and Ai was walking slightly slower, creating a distance between them.

"Oi, Haibara. What's wrong with you?" Conan asked Ai besides him.
"…nothing." Was her reply in whisper.
"What, don't tell me you think he's one of them, do you?" Conan asked, but he wasn't that concerned about him, for the most part.
"No, that's not it." She denied.
"Then what is it?" Conan asked, feeling slightly annoyed by her.
'I hate it every time she acts like this, hiding things from me.' The selfish, bratty detective thought.
"…he's so handsome." Ai said in a small voice.
Even with her whisper-quite voice, Conan managed to hear her considering they are the only people in the hallway, which dumbfounded him for a bit, and then he started laughing.
Ai glared at him, but he didn't noticed as he was busy laughing his ass out, until he managed to get it out of his system. In the same manner as Ai talked earlier, he teased her.
"You're telling me, you, a former member of the Black Organization, capable of making a miraculous drug that can turn a teenager into a child, has feelings as mundane as finding someone in the opposite sex attractive?" Conan said with a mischievous grin on his face, and then he started laughing once more.
"What of it? Keep doing that and I'll tell you on your precious Ran." Ai fought back, which finally managed to silence Conan, but the grin remained on his face.
Until it disappeared, as he managed to formulate an idea in a short time span.
"You know what, I'll be your wingman. What do you think?" Conan asked in a serious tone.
That made Ai look at him incredulously, but the seriousness in his eyes made her furrow her brows.
"What brought this on?" She asked.
"Last Monday, I ate at his place when my classmates went there and celebrated a welcome party for him. He's awfully close to Ran." He explained.
"Ho, so you're jealous, and you're using me to threw him off your wife's scent. No, thank you." Ai said and started walking away from him.
"I'm doing this for you, you know? And Ran's not my wife. Moreover, finish the damned drug already!" Conan followed suit.
"You displeased me, so I'll stop working on it until you do something for me to forgive you."
"Hey, wait! Haibara!"

"… and the spicy double cheeseburger for me." Akane said, picking up the last piece of burger on the tray, while the kids had already started munching on theirs.
"Uwaa, it's so good!"
"Right?"
"Yeah! You wouldn't thought this burger was sold in the cinema!"
"Thank you very much, big bro!" The kids were enjoying their snack, exchanging their view on it and thanked Akane together like it's all part of the plan.
'These kids, their eyes are so bright yet I can see the darkness within. Is this how they control Conan?'
"Now, now. Don't stuff your mouth full. No one would take your food away from." Akane don't want them choking on their food.
The trio heeded his advice, and they started eating slowly. As for Conan and Ai, they were eating properly, so Akane doesn't have to look after them too much. Biting on burgers, Akane felt at ease of his current situation.
After their eating their snack, all of them started going back to watch the next movie, when they were called by the clerk lady.
"Kids, come here for a bit."
In front of here was three large buckets of popcorns, as well as seven bottles of water.
"You can have this, it's on me." She pointed at the products in front of her.
"Ehh? Is that fine, big sis?" The trio asked her.
"It's fine, it's fine. Today is the final screening in this theater, and I'm happy that you came today." Her words caused confusion to the trio.
"Final?" The trio muttered, when an old man appeared behind them and followed up on the clerk's words.
"That's right, today is the final screening." The kids, as well as Akane who already noticed the old man approaching, looked at the old man who was walking with a cane.
"For thirty years, I've been running this theater, but the end has finally come."
Conan, the ever-curious, speak out the thoughts in his mind, "So that's why there are ropes and other stuffs everywhere."
"I'm sorry about that, young man. The workers are eager to get their job done, you see." The old man apologized.
"Those people, why couldn't they just start tomorrow." The clerk lady complained. She wasn't able to let her heart out because someone hijacked their conversation.
"Now, don't talk like that," a shady looking guy, with a cigarette on his mouth, interjected the clerk lady, "I've graciously allowed this place stay running long enough."
When Akane saw him, as if a light bulb turn on in his head, and he looked at Conan. He's heard stories about him from his friends, so Akane out two together.
'So this is the poor sap who will receive the grim reaper's scythe?' Akane thought.

This story will be on-hold, as I'm experimenting with FPP writing with another story. I hate to leave it like this, since I'm writing this with the intention of using my waifu of 2022 as the FMC, but know that I'm doing this with the intention of improving my writing. I'm sorry, and see you soon.
