Bab 5: New Subordinates?!
Once Lucifer returned to the village, he noticed Rimuru leaving the medical shed.
"Yo, what you been up to?" Rimuru curiously asked.
Earlier, Rimuru sensed a disturbance in the Magicules in the area where Lucifer walked too with his [Magic Sense], but he wasn't too worried because he could tell it wasn't a fight.
"Oh I was just testing out my powers and skills." Lucifer answered.
"Makes sense, let me give you the rundown on the situation though."
Rimuru wanted to explain what the village chief told him in the meeting since Lucifer was absent for the majority of it. This slightly ticked off Rimuru because Lucifer was basically dumping all the work on him but he couldn't complain because a bet is a bet.
"Nah you don't have to, I heard all of it." Lucifer cut him off before he could start explaining.
"How the hell could you hear all that?!" Rimuru questioned, he knew Lucifer was deep in the forest, so how could it be possible?
"You do know we both used to be human but got reincarnated as monsters and here we are now living in a fantasy world but you're questioning my super hearing?" Lucifer deadpanned at Rimuru.
"HeheHe, I guess your right." Rimuru nervously chuckled, scratching the back of his non-existent neck with his non-existent hand.
"Anyways, I was planning on helping the goblins defend against the dire wolves, what are you going to do?" Rimuru's face turned serious at his question.
He wouldn't blame Lucifer if he decided to back out, I mean why should he risk his lives for complete strangers?
But Rimuru himself loved helping people and had strong morals, he would only ever be truly violent in order to protect those morals.
Of course he could become violent in anger, but that doesn't happen often to Rimuru.
"Yeah sure, why not." Lucifer responded nonchalantly.
"That easy?! I thought you would think about it longer?!" Rimuru seemed shocked at the fact that Lucifer decided so nonchalantly, but he was also relieved since he wouldn't have to be alone.
"Yeah, but to be honest I need more battle experience, I also can't just let my friend go fight by himself." Lucifer smiled at that last part, showing his genuine feelings.
"Yeah, whatever." Rimuru also smiled at his words, even though his own words seemed to differ.
(Few Hours Later)
Lucifer and Rimuru could be seen standing next to each other, scanning the area infront of them with all of their senses.
They were standing at a clear field which was in front of the village but the forest still surrounded them from their left and right, this was the best positioning they could find if a battle were to start.
Rimuru wanted to give them a warning first and if they didn't heed it, he wouldn't hesitate to kill them, Lucifer was of a similar mind.
In the original, the goblins would have helped Rimuru defeat the dire wolves but Lucifer told them there was no need for their help.
He wanted to handle most of them himself
At the same time, Rimuru and Lucifer immediately looked in a certain direction to their northeast side.
The goblins who were at the gates of the village seemed confused about why Rimuru and Lucifer were looking in a random direction.
The goblins were about to go up there and ask but they started to see silhouettes appearing in the direction where Rimuru and Lucifer were staring at.
'Dire wolves!! And it seems to be a whole pack of them.'
'Did they sense them before even seeing them!?'
All of the goblins seemed to have come to the same realization, which in turn strengthened their belief in Rimuru's and Lucifer's strength even more.
Rimuru seemed to have nodded at Lucifer and walked forward to see if the dire wolves would back off.
Howls could be heard, as the dire wolves approached the village, they noticed the slime and the human behind him.
"A mere slime?" The dire wolf leader questioned mockingly.
"Listen up, if you don't retreat now, me and my friend will show no mercy." Rimuru threateningly warned.
"A mere slime thinks he can tell me what do!? DESTROY THE VILLAGE AND WET THE GROUND WITH GOBLIN BLOOD!!" The dire wolf leader commanded.
As soon as he said that, the dire wolves seemed to have charged straight ahead toward Rimuru and Lucifer's direction.
"Well, we warned them." Rimuru sighed.
Rimuru looked to his left but Lucifer was nowhere to be found, he turned his head back towards the dire wolves and could see them cowering for some reason.
Rimuru found his gaze on Lucifer who seemed to be in front of the dire wolves, a lifeless head seemed to be in Lucifer's hand.
'Fast!!'
Rimuru was internally shocked but on the outside he was calm. Just now he couldn't really track Lucifer's movement, it seemed as if he just appeared in front of the dire wolves.
But he did notice how Lucifer killed the dire wolf, it seemed as if Lucifer extended his nail into a claw and immediately cut off the head of the leader.
'Is that a new skill? It's weird but seems very resourceful.'
Rimuru was weirded out by the skill but he could do things just as weird so he didn't really care.
"Oops, my hand seemed to have slipped." Lucifer smirked mischievously.
Rimuru just sighed, his friend seemed to be a bit too playful in such serious situations.
Rimuru didn't feel bad though, he gave the leader a chance but he seemed hellbent on fighting them and this was just karma for picking on the weak.
The dire wolves snapped out of their stupor once they heard Lucifer's remark, and they all started to growl at Lucifer.
But an immense aura seemed to have made them divert their attention from Lucifer to Rimuru who wanted to force them to run away.
"We're giving you guys one more chance to run away, this is your last chance."
It seemed like Rimuru wanted to give them one last chance.
Lucifer stayed silent, he already killed the leader and didn't wanna kill Rimuru's future subordinates so he didn't really care anymore.
He walked back towards Rimuru's side and waited to see what they would do.
"We yield, we will now serve our new masters."
All the dire wolves seemed to have bowed down in front of Rimuru and Lucifer, swearing their loyalty.
"Huh?"
'Why didn't they just run away?'
Rimuru seemed to have been confused on why they didn't run.
"Lord Rimuru and Lord Lucifer, is it over now?" The old goblin chief asked over the fence which was protecting their village.
"Huh? Oh yeah sure."
Rimuru was confused at first because of the dire wolves decision but confirmed the goblin chief's query, Lucifer also nodded.
"HOORAY!!"
"WE ARE SAFE!!"
"BLESS LORD RIMURU AND LORD LUCIFER!!"
Cheers could be heard from all over the village because of their victory.
(Next Day)
Rimuru and Lucifer could be seen in the middle of the village with all the dire wolves and goblins standing in front of them.
Just like in the original, Rimuru put each goblin and dire wolf in pairs with each other and named them together.
This time though, he did it with Lucifer's help, they split up the naming between them 50/50 so they wouldn't over-exhaust their Magicules.
"I feel a bit exhausted, what about you Lucifer?" Rimuru seemed to still use an exhausting amount of Magicules in order to name them.
"Yeah." Lucifer seemed to have agreed.
With nothing else left to do, Lucifer left to his personal shed, while Rimuru left to teach the goblins certain skills they need to maintain the village.
When Lucifer entered the shed he immediately transformed back into his cat form since it felt more natural.
Lucifer realized if he wanted to get stronger, he would have to fight the stronger opponents who are as strong as him or stronger.
He decided to take a nap, he curled up in a ball in his empty shed and slowly drifted to sleep.
(Few Hours Later)
Lucifer only slept for 3 hours, once he woke up, he arched his back and stretched in his cat form.
'I see why cats like stretching like that, my whole back feels much more loose and relaxed now.'
He slowly walked out of his shed and asked a certain goblin if anything happened while he was out.
The goblin seemed confused at first because he didn't know who this cat was that seemed to have walked out of his Lord's shed until he remembered Rimuru telling everyone that Lucifer was actually a cat.
"Oh, forgive me Lord Lucifer I didn't recognize you in your cat form!" The goblin apologized, bowing to Lucifer, for not paying him his proper respect.
"Pay no mind, me and Rimuru don't wish to be so informal with everyone, just treat us as you would a respected friend." Lucifer calmly stated.
"You are so generous Lord Lucifer!!" The goblin had starry eyes while talking to Lucifer.
"Now can you explain?"
The goblin then explained that all he missed was Rimuru giving out rules, like to not harm humans and to treat each other fairly. Rimuru also taught them certain skills like the basics of house building.
Lucifer knew that if he told Rimuru to change the rule about hurting humans so that in the future the citizens of Tempest could defend themselves against the Falmuth Invasion, they would have way better chances but he wanted everyone including Rimuru to learn from that experience, in order to grow.
Lucifer thanked the goblin and went to look for Rimuru.
While he was looking for Rimuru, he noticed the goblins have evolved and matured.
Even the old village chief became very muscular and tall, while also the girls seemed to have evolved in certain places.
Once he found Rimuru, Rimuru noticed him and motioned him to come over.
"Yo Lucifer, I noticed you were napping and didn't wanna disturb you but since your awake, I'm planning on going to this country of dwarves to find artisans, wanna come with?" Rimuru quickly explained.
"Nah, I'm just gonna chill here for now, someone should hold down the fort." Lucifer declined, he wanted to master his powers more and train a little bit.
"Suit yourself." Rimuru was a little downcast that Lucifer didn't wanna come with him but he knew Lucifer was correct and that somebody should stay in the village just in case.
"Well, I'll be back in a few days." Rimuru waved goodbye while riding on the back of the new dire wolf leader named Ranga.
He went with a couple of other goblins, one of them being Gobta, who was an important side character in the future.
Lucifer waved him goodbye with his paw and once Rimuru was gone, entered the forest to train.

I'm not sure who I should pick but I'm leaning towards a harem.
