Getting back in my room with a smile on my face, it goes away looking at my little brother, sleeping, shaking, a nightmare.
Looking at his face, the horror and slight tears on it, I couldn't help but wonder if he'd look like that, if he knew what I just did. I couldn't help but wonder again if it's worth it, but it's to late for doubts really, once you in, there ain't no getting out really.
Walking over to him, I bend over a little and shake him barely, but he instantly jumps.
"Hey, hey, it's me, it's ok." I whisper and hug him while he hugs me back and cry's softly into my chest.
"Wanna talk about it?" I ask after he seemingly calms down from the lack of sound except our soft breathing.
"I don't really remember it clearly, but it ended with you and Aunt May being dead." He said slowly, I could tell he was trying to hold back his tears while talking.
"Well don't worry about it, I'm here alive after all, right?" I asked semi rhetorically.
"R-right." He stuttered out.
"Well how about you go back to sleep. Want me to sleep with you?" And instead of speaking he scooted to give me space. As much space as the twin size bed can offer with two people at least.
(Next Day)
Getting out of school, I see T waiting with a couple of older guys as Justin and Brian pass me to them.
"Yo!" Justin calls out to them.
"Yo. Isn't Peter coming?" T responded, which prompted the Justin and Brian to turn to me.
"Yo you coming man?" Justin asked while walking up to me.
"Nah man, I gotta pick up my little brother." And at my words I could see T's eyebrow lift, along with the looks the other guys got, not good.
"Come on man! It'll be real quick!" He said and by now he's gotten close enough to put his arm over my shoulders.
"Nah man I can't." I continued, cause I really can't, he's only in elementary right now, sure he's about to become a middle schooler, but he's still young.
"It'll be real quick! Plus this is to show you the corners we normally sell at and what to and not do." He whispered the last part in my ear.
"… Will it really be quick?" I asked, after all I need this, the cash, money, for them.
"Definitely!" He exclaimed, and I slowly nodded my head, but it in fact was not quick.
Eventually heading to the school with a smile, I see my little bro walk out, with Aunt May, and I realized I fucked up. Running over, Aunt May takes a look, but then looks away, as my little brother did the same.
"Aunt May, please, I'm sorr-" But then she turned to me.
"NO! You left your brother waiting for an hour! A DAMN HOUR! The school had to call me! I had to give up a shift at work! Money that we need right now! Isn't that the point? The money? Well guess what, we lost some now because of you!" And as she yelled at me, I couldn't help but look down, to my brother, and our eyes met, but then he looked down, away from me.
And I felt my anger boiling, not at him, or Aunt May who's still yelling at me, no. I'm mad at myself. I caused us to lose money… but I can make it up, more than we even lost. I can still fix this, just need to make some money.
Eventually May stopped, and walked away with Ethan. And I still stood there, like a statue really, but eventually I did move. I learned where we sell already, who's selling where and when, and I already got some on me. So my feet move, towards a spot that'll be empty now, one that I can cover. A place where I can make money.
Eventually after selling for a while, I ran out, so I went to where T stays at. He's the leader of the gang but also the supplier, he grows the plants.
Getting there, I knock, and eventually I hear T.
"What?" He asks.
"Dequavion ran outta glass mirrors." I call out, dumb code? Sure, but it works. And proving my point to myself, the door slide opens.
"Get in kid." He says and moves to the side, giving me passage to get in which I did as he closes it behind me and locking it. Inside it honestly looks very bare, but I guess when it's a plant farm you don't have much room for aesthetic, and speaking of, there were lines of plants on little slim tables.
"So how much you make?" He asked, and instead of answering I hand him the cash. He then starts counting it, before giving me half, which honestly really surprised me.
"Don't stress on it kid, I like to build my relationships with trust, so I give half of what all my guys make back. Here." At the end he hands me three ziplock bags with what looks like green mush inside.
Getting over my surprise from the money, which is in fact warranted since minimum wage right now is 5 around dollars, and I just made a little more than a full day of work in three hours. I thank him and take my leave back home.
Getting home, I see on a clock it says a little past 7:30.
"Was it worth it?" I suddenly hear. And looking toward the voice, I see Aunt May on our couch. Instead of answering her, I started walking to my room, though when I passed the dinner table, I put down the money I made.
"I'm going to sleep early." I say and step in the room before closing the door.
Again, this is so different for the most part of what I’ve seen on the app. But I hope that whoever does read this story, enjoy it. And yes everything has a purpose.
