Kate tsked. Seriously, who was he playing with? 

"Director, do we really have to tell?" She asked him, "Is it not clear? Everyone can see how much importance you give to Esmeralda on the set."

Even the cleaning staff knew that Esmeralda Fox was the most precious one here and she should be taken great care of. This was the reason why other actors were getting insecure, especially the lead ones. What would happen if they find out what Esmeralda charged for the movie? It was bound to create headlines and Esmeralda would get criticised along with the director and producer.
