Cas prided himself on his words of wisdom to Shani. More humbly, he was immensely grateful for her ear to listen to his depressing ramblings. In ten years, no one had cared to take the time for him in such a way, much less coaxing out his history so compassionately. Doing so little, she allowed him to release pieces of himself that he’d been keeping pent-up and quiet, too cowardly to face.
With her gentle, inquisitive nature, he knew with certainty that she *would* make a good Luna someday. Working past her low self-confidence would be one of the trickier parts of the journey.
And figuring out the “something” that scared her away from everything she knew. Casimir was no stranger to trauma and heartache. Shani was easier to read than a map; her expressions gave it away. That, unfortunately, was a habit she needed to learn to control. Other Alphas would use it against her.
