Bab 167: Facing the past

It was near midnight, but Connor Ward's work was not over. He was in his office, signing papers and going through the armaments, ammunition, and troops possessed by the throne and of each house. He was going through the documents about house Wildstone, a Samrannian house of the south when Riley climbed to his window behind.

"Can't you ever come inside normally?" Connor said without lifting his eyes from the paper.

Riley smiled in the shadows, climbed up the window, and jumped inside with a cold breeze following him.

"Looks like I can never get away from your eyes, master," he said moving in front of the desk.

Connor placed his quilt back in the inkpot and leaned back with his fingers crossed. "I have told you many a time now. Don't call me that."

"Good to see you are in your usual self," Riley paced the room.

"You do realize that you look like a mess, right?" Connor frowned.
