Beomgyu's Pov
"We have to burn the evidence out of existence." She simply said as if these aren't people like us. Cass's expression didn't even falter at all like it's some daily routine for her.
"Wait, can't we just transport them back to some place where we can report their deaths to the police?" I offered a solution that would give their families some closure as much as possible, rather than holding onto the idea of a missing person.
She just stared at me like I just said the most outrageous thing she heard in her whole life.
"It's impossible. Dead bodies are heavy."
"Why? There's literally four of us and a yacht at the back we can use to drop them off on some beach out there."
"Are you serious? You would risk clueless innocent people's lives for these guys? They might spread some airborne diseases to the townspeople." She sighed in frustration.
"Really? Shouldn't you have thought of that before you made a pool of their blood all over the house and your own face?" I sighed to calm myself down. "… and besides, some of these people might have no choice anyway. Don't treat them like they're expendables."
She let out a short, wry chuckle. "They came here to either kill you or worse, torture you. One of these psychos clearly knows you were brought here and said he'd rather do disgusting things to you than me and you wanna play their lawyer?"
"Of course not, I'm just thinking about the families they've left-"
"Watch out!!!"
I perfectly heard Cass's warning, however, my brain wasn't functioning the way I wanted to so I just stood there while a supposedly dead guy lying next to the couch used what's left of his energy and shot me.
Cass took the hit when she jumped to block it.
She fell down the couch while holding the side of her chest near the armpit. Her hands are shaking and she's struggling on keeping the blood from spilling so I panicked and picked her handgun over the lampshade table to shoot the guy multiple times till I finally hit him on the stomach.
All of a sudden, my hands felt numb but I had to rummage her pocket for the radio because she appears like she's having a hard time to speak.
"H-help! Cass… is been shot…" my voice trembled after seeing the blood creeping their way out between her fingers.
"What happened?!" Taehyun's voice echoed throughout the high ceilings. He cursed as soon as he saw her biting her lower lip in pain.
"There was a survivor and…"
"Let me guess, she saved you." The cop said as he carefully turned her body around and laid over the carpet facing up, then immediately cut her t-shirt using a small scissor from his Army knife he took from his back pocket.
My hand gripped against the radio at his boldness yet the cop showed no signs of suspicious behavior so I let him give her the immediate assistance she badly needs that I couldn't provide.
As a man, my body naturally gets attracted by the curves I don't normally see from an opposite gender but instead of staring on Cass's plain, strapless black brassiere and the pair it's struggling to hold in place, my eyes are more glued on the scars of various shapes all over her upper body, apart from the one I saw on her belly.
They were even more noticeable due to the contrasting shade against her light brown skin and to think there's a new wound that could possibly end the streak of luck she possesses, something tugged at my heartstrings and it made it harder to watch her face full of beads of sweat.
"Will she live?" I asked even though it sounded more like a plea.
"If we could get her to a hospital as soon as possible." He took his vest and shirt off, and a well-toned group of muscles came on full display.
He ripped the shirt in two, one for folding so that the wound will stop pumping her blood out and the other to keep that fabric in place.
However, it didn't stop Cass's lips from getting paler and her eyes are slowly shutting down.
I bit my lip in frustration.
The cop did everything he could to save her and here I am, haven't done anything back, even as small as appreciation for her bravery.
The butler arrived with a first aid kit on his hand and helped carry her to the yacht.
I thought I'd only watch everything unfold till she finally got the right treatment in the small, private hospital at the nearest town, approximately thirty minutes away.
However, once the doctor expressed concerns about the lack of blood bags available for emergency purposes, I finally had the chance to contribute something.
