"What could have happened?....." muttered Daiki
A few moments ago, he heard a loud noise from the forest.
Earlier, he asked his genin partner to go into the forest and scout out if any villagers had escaped there. He thought Katsura would finish up his job quickly and return. But even after so much time passed, the sun began to rise…he still isn't back yet.
It's not like Daiki has some sort of attachment towards Katsura, that he would be voluntarily concerned about him. He knows perfectly well how the world of shinobi works…Death is the most common thing that could happen to a ninja who is on duty.
The only reason he is worried is that this matter is linked with Iwagakure.
Being a Chuunin, he is much more agile than a normal person, so he managed to arrive at the location of the blast pretty fast….
Upon arriving, he saw a bizarre scene,
"What the….." He blurted out.
He saw a young kid maybe around the age of eight kneeling in front of something which looked like a ready-made grave. Upon inspecting the area a bit he saw a headless body lying in a corner. He noticed it was wearing a standard Iwagakure genin outfit.
"Katsura…." He muttered after identifying the body.
'Did that kid do that….?'
He couldn't see any other person nearby except that boy.
'Maybe somebody did this before I came here and left early?... But then again, this boy is clearly injured and looks so exhausted….then…did this kid kill Daiki?' he thought before shaking his head in denial, 'Ridiculus, he is wearing commoner clothes….he is clearly a civilian from these border villages, how can he kill a grown-up ninja?'
'I have to retrieve Katsura's body and report this incident to my superior….' It was an unspoken rule that every fallen shinobi's body must be retrieved or destroyed. In this world, there are various majors through which vital information can be easily obtained from dead bodies.
Though Katsura was merely a genin, it would the best to retrieve his body.
'I should eliminate the witness too….' Though Daiki had no idea who was the real culprit, it was better to just eliminate any future problems.
'Everything is for Iwagakure…' He said in his heart.
He slowly came towards the site. The kid seemingly noticed his arrival and quickly turned behind.
Daiki could see a frown forming on the kid's face, which he ignored.
Without wasting any time he took out his sword.
