Bab 68: Chapter 68- Do You Want To Play A Game?

"Look at that! Room 15 kept going! It's already at 51 diamonds!"

"These crazy muppets! Wasting so much just on this!"

"Crazy! Room 11 bids increased it to 55 once more!"

These types of murmurs rang across multiple groups of the audience as they enjoy the unfolding scene.

Most of them had a smile etched on their face, finding extreme joy to be able to witness these menial entertainments and color their dull lives, at least for a while.

Soon after, the bid reached 60 diamonds, with room 11 holding the bid and no signs of room 15 chiming in once more. As if the war was over.

"60 diamonds going once…

Twice…

Sold! Congratulations to Room 11 on acquiring [Andromeda's Opal] for 60 Diamonds!" Yue'er exclaimed happily, and so does the cheerful crowd, but not for the young man in room 11.

He had a depressed look on his face, looming with anger and annoyance. Several broken pieces of furniture lay dead near him as he crushed another one, once more.

"ARGH!" He shouted, frantically brushing his hands against his hair, "These fuckers…I swear I'll return this someday!" He said as he looked over at Room 15.

Though he could not see who was inside, he already etched their faces deep within his mind, swearing for some vengeance.

"I'm going back late," He said to his father and immediately left the room, not noticing the smirk on his old man's face.

The cat sitting between them only yawned once more, going deeper into sleep, as it could not care less for the ongoing fiesta.

*BOOM*

A punch flew at the back of the Auction house as the young man left with a box in his hands. A very familiar, yet rage-inducing box.

A few more of those he let out as his breathing turned calm and fixed his clothes quickly. His face now looked gentle.

"Star clan…that's gonna be a problem, but Yu Chun should know who they are…" He mumbled out loud.

He shook his head and cleared his thoughts of them. Revenge is a dish best served cold and thought out, not hurried and rash. Now, he has better things to do.

He opened the box and felt the spatial energy quiver near the item. He smiled, "Though I don't think this is worth 60 diamonds, at least it'll serve its use for a while,"

He opened his ring and flew out an item. A small sleeping bug appeared on his open hand. It looked much like a ladybug from earth but with green as its base color.

He channeled his qi into the bug and it woke up, only to dash straight into [Andromeda's Opal], leaving no traces of it ever existing for but a single piece of its wing.

The young man closed the box and stored the torn-off wing carefully.

"With this…we can meet whenever I want, and not even father can stop me," He mumbled, smiling gleefully, and shot off towards the outer district of the city.

….

Meanwhile, back in room 15, Long Ren and Yun Ning sighed out loud. Although they had little to no confidence in winning the bid after receiving that letter, it still bummed them out.

"Even 60 diamonds is not enough," Yun Ning said, a bit sad. They had decided to pool all their funds to go as far as possible but alas. Room 11 just seems to have an infinite amount of diamonds.

Though she had no use for the item, losing a bid she participated in still left a bad taste in her mouth.

Long Ren nodded and sighed again, "How unlucky of us to meet such a big spender," He said. Yun Ning nodded her head in response, acknowledging their bad luck.

After a bit of silence, Yun Ning remembered something and looked at Long Ren, "Oh, Didn't you have the chest full of space artifacts your master gave you?" Yun Ning asked, "Any of them acts like this one?"

Long Ren thought for a moment before shaking his head, "Maybe, but none of them are as convenient as the bracelet,"

Although he had been with the items for quite a few years now, he barely know what each of them does. For all, he knows they can all be 10x better than the bracelet.

He made a mental note to someday ask Xing Lao what each of those artifacts does.

"So, anything else you found interesting?" Long Ren asked. The only answer he got before was the bracelet, but that's now gone.

He wants to see whether they can get something for her while they're here. They have only been hustling for his items, after all.

Yun Ning shook her head, "Nope, other than the all-mysterious final item, everything doesn't match with either of us or is just too expensive,"

"Huh, that's too bad. Looks like we're gonna be bored for a while then," Long Ren said as he leaned his head back once more, enjoying the fluffy couch.

Adrenaline filled his head a bit when the bidding war happened, making him sit up straight and tall. Now that it's over, he just wanted to slump back to comfort.

The auction still continued while they leaned back and enjoyed their time. The excited crowd still cheered all the same as new bids kept popping up.

Long Ren and Yun Ning only watched, regarding the crowd's dampened noises as simple filler background songs, though melodic and definitely out of tune.

Suddenly, a lightbulb lit up in Long Ren's head.

"Do you have some wood?" He asked Yun Ning.

Yun Ning didn't know what he wanted some wood for but took out a few dozen clean and polished white wood blocks. Each of them radiates some sort of healing aura, very weak, but still there.

Although Long Ren did ask for it, he felt a bit baffled at her readiness, "Why do you carry wood blocks around?"

Yun Ning tilts her head in confusion, "Why not? I just keep interesting things in my ring, not like they weigh me anything," Stating, as if it is a matter of fact.

'Hoarders…she's not wrong though,' Long Ren thought. He couldn't find fault in her train of thought, so he just skimped it off and went on with his original plan.

"What are you doing with it?" She asked, looking curiously at Long Ren's antics.

The wood she brought out was a special kind of rare wood, used for medicinal purposes, If Long Ren were to burn or waste them, she would stop him as he would essentially be burning money then.

Long Ren took a small block and cut it in half. "This is all I need," He said, handing the rest back to Yun Ning. She stored the remaining wooden blocks and saw Long Ren bringing out a simple blade.

He coated the blade with Qi and divided the original 30 cm tall block into dozens of small rectangular boxes. He slightly cut the edges diagonally, resulting in not-so-perfect rectangles.

Yun Ning felt confused as she saw her friend take those little rectangular boxes—three for each layer—on top of one another, with each succeeding layer's blocks facing a different direction.

In the end, a 30 cm tall block tower sat upon their short wooden table. Long Ren nodded, feeling content with his craft, and looked at Yun Ning with eyes full of excitement.

"Do you want to play a game?"

(A/N: Yep, it do be J**ga)
