Charlotte was stunned to hear the truth behind the reason for Mathieu's death. Why did Mathieu have to involve himself in magic? That was another question from Édouard.

"To gain power, to become stronger, and to rule over the people. But things went wrong. I also do not know what he exactly did that took his life. Rainard and I have been looking into it, but we did not find anything till now," Édouard asserted.

"You should have told me. I kept blaming myself," Charlotte said with a disappointed gaze.

"I hated Mathieu not because he took the bet seriously and took you away from me. But because he failed to give you happiness. I never liked to talk about him. But now he is no more, I do not want to hold any grudge against him. The reason was clear, Charlotte. I did not want to see you in pain," Édouard explained to her. He lowered his hand from her cheek, before grasping her left hand.
