Bab 38: Not Trusted
Lin rushed into his room slamming the door close behind himself. He took off his coat and threw it on the bed in anger. He went to stand close to the window.
Lin greeted his teeth in anger and clenched his fists.
"How could she hide it from me? She told him but why not me?", He shouted in rage and picked the glass from the nearby table and threw it to the ground.
A few hours ago, on the Magical Island Liam came to Lin who was standing at a distance from the healing tree and observing the injured ones.
"It's a pity that you are only in name the most trusted person of Her Highness", Liam said being proud.
Lin looked at him, "What do you mean?"
Liam sneered, "Go and ask Her Highness what is she going to do regarding the situation? Anyways she won't tell you because I think she doesn't trust you enough."
Lin glared at him, "Who are you to say that? She trusts me the most. If you are behaving like this then why don't you tell me what she is hiding from me?"
He nodded, "Sure. She had planned that no one is supposed to be told about the secret investigation that she is carrying out with the beasts and should pretend as if they are helpless."
Lin rushed away. He reached the Conference Hall entrance. He took a deep breath and entered. Mia was sitting there on a chair focused on some paper. She looked so beautiful that Lin didn't want to disturb her and slowly went to sit on the chair next to her.
Lin kept staring at her. After a while, she noticed his presence. When Lin asked her about the situation, she didn't tell him about the investigation. When Lin read her mind he was greatly disappointed.
When he left the Conference Hall, Liam laughed at his sight, "I knew it. She won't tell you anything."
Lin grabbed him by his collar. Liam laughed at him, "Look at you. You are just a loyal dog who isn't trusted by its master."
Lin was about to hit him but then Hao appeared and stopped them.
"Don't both of you remember that Mia told you to keep peace among yourself?", Hao asked.
Lin left without another word.
The next day.
Lin's POV
When I stepped onto the island I felt empty. I slowly started walking. I arrived earlier than usual because I didn't want to meet that annoying idiot or else I might kill him. I was passing by the healing tree and saw an old man from yesterday sitting there. I went close to him.
By his scent, I can tell that he was a Magical Griffin. He is among the family of victims.
"Sir, how are you feeling now?", I asked him out of care.
He raised his head and looked at me. He sighed, "Alone. I just feel lonely. If you don't mind then can you sit with me for a while?"
I nodded, "Sure."
I sat next to him. He kept staring at me and then smiled, "You are a brave person. Your feelings had confused you. Take care of your safety these days. My disciple was also as young as you but unfortunately, I couldn't protect him. The peace of the world needs you so, be careful. Protect yourself and your loved ones. Her Highness needs your help a lot but do not tell her that I told you this."
I stared at him blankly. He left me confused, "How do you know that I am confused by my feelings? And the thing that Her Highness needs my help?"
He laughed, "I was supposed to leave early in the morning but something made me feel that I should stay. Now I know that I felt that way because I had to convey this information to you. Now I should leave."
I grabbed his hands, "Please tell me how you know this. Can you tell me more? Do you read people?"
The old man laughed again, "Young man, you are asking a lot at a time. I already told you that I should leave. I can't tell you how I found out these things or about that I read people. If you want to know more then I will tell you one thing that stay beside her. Don't leave her no matter what because you are confused right now."
After saying those words he disappeared. He was nowhere to be found. I got up from the ground and started walking towards the arena with thoughts about his words.
If he is right then what does he mean by that I am confused. How did he know that Mia needs me? Who is he to Mia?
I kept asking myself those questions. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't know when I reached the arena. I was about to enter when Mia's voice entered my ears. I hid there at the entrance and peeked. Mia and Hao were there along with a boy almost the same age as Mia.
It seemed as if Mia was training him.
I closed my eyes and tried to hear them. In the beginning, I heard slow voices then I was able to hear them.
"You are brave, confident, and devoted but still you need a lot of training. The qualities you have are what a warrior needs. You just need to improve them", Mia told the boy.
"You are right Mia, he has all the qualities to be the best warrior. All he needs is some more training. He is a jewel that needs to be polished", Hao told Mia.
Mia laughed, "Hao knows how to appreciate? I never knew this."
"No matter what you will never appreciate me, humph...", Hao seemed annoyed.
I then heard Mia laugh. I also heard a chuckle from the boy. It was annoying me.
"Your Highness, thank you so much for accepting my request. I will try my best to become strong enough to protect you", the boy said.
His words made me angry. Who is he to protect Mia?
"Come out, if you have peeked enough", Mia said loudly.
