Bab 38: [Nepharia, The Great Demi-Goddess Of Eternal Death]
Ominous black clouds started to fill and overtake the sunny blue sky that loomed over the empire suddenly casting an enormous dark shadow upon the entire nation engulfing it in pure darkness.
Powerful dark lightning came crashing down striking the earth with overwhelming strength and power as loud booming sounds of thunder echoed every time a lightning bolt would destroy something in the area.
William's dark aura and haki grew at alarming rates catching me off guard for a moment. I thought it would make me think and stay on my toes for the rest of the battle.
Suddenly the dark energy left Williams body and started to hover in the air above him sitting completely still.
The ground was shaking violently causing buildings to tumble over and turning them to piles of rubble in the near surroundings making dust and debris fly in each and every direction.
A barrier of black hellfire suddenly appeared around the entire empire. It seemed to be forming a barrier that could not be crossed from the inside or outside making it an impenetrable defense.
Well that was the case for everyone besides Chaos that is. This ability was really one of a kind though… It was a extraordinary ability.
She had the power to create indestructible barrier infused with powerful death energy. It would nearly insta-kill anything with a soul or life essence that tries to get near it or destroy it.
This was her one overwhelming power… The reason she was feared for centuries in the underworld… The most fierce Nether Dragon that ever lived…
Although life on Alvesia would not be easy… This would be a whole new experience for her… She is one that has never before set foot in the mortal realm in all her years of living which was considered an ancient existence…
She was 10,000 years old in fact…But she had no worries or doubts of her power and abilities… She's always been strong beyond belief overlapping every being in the Nether realm, never once suffering defeat…
The question is… What will she do now? Who does she take side with?
Does she take the chance and try to escape with her freedom like anyone would want to do, or will she choose to compromise with one of them…
She has now been awakened again since the time she was summoned to kill Artemis, William's father 15 years ago…So… What path shall she embark on now?
Chaos looked up at the sky admiring the power he was witnessing right in front of him he gazed at it intently wondering what would happen next.
It actually made him flinch a little upon first sight, which was a feat not one warrior in the empire could accomplish at the moment.
"This power… Kukuku, I'll say one thing for sure, it's really something. (Krios)
"Get ready Chaos… Here she comes!"
"So…take it you knew she existed all along right? Yeah… Hmm… I see… She's your trump card huh?
"I have nothing to hide. She's been lending me her power even in her resting state for a long time in exchange for life essence from the wars we've fought recently." (William)
"Oh.I understand very well now… there's no need to explain any further."
Krios went into deep thought as he finally started to put the all the pieces together.
'Not only can William use the power of an Ancient Dragoness but also had somehow gained control of her with his death element mana?'
'So.. He's using him his own mana as the source of said control.But I still don't understand… How does such an op and powerful ancient Demi-goddess fall under the control of someone that's no where near her strength? Yeah…That's the real question…,
"It all really makes sense now…I'll give it to you, you're definitely more competent than I gave you credit for." I said in a mocking tone even though I had not seen this outcome I figured it shouldn't prove too difficult to overcome In the end.
William seemed to know I was stringing him along for more information but he stood firm not even moving an inch.
"This power is bestowed upon from her, as long as I continuously give her life essence and mana everyday. Which means she can never betray or turn against me."
He seemed to forget how powerful I really was…I mean c'mom what's with this guy?
"Hmm… Right. So you're saying she's been using you to gather her power this entire time and finally awaken? I asked unconsciously raising my eyebrows probably crushing his ego in the process but I didn't care.
"No…Not exactly. I feel that our relationship is mutual at the moment."
William looked down at the scythe clutching it even tighter.
"She's bound by my will and gives me power and in exchange I give her the energy she needs to stay alive…William said with a stoic face not regretting his statement one bit.
Chaos looked at William, his face covered by shadows leaving only his glowing eyes sinisterly looking down at him smirking behind the shadows.
"Are you sure it will continue to remain that way though?
I glared at him with killing intent and divine haki causing the pressure in the surrounding area to become heavy.
"I mean…Can she not just become my slave instead of yours?"
I opened the palm of my hand revealing a chaotic flame which danced wildly letting off waves of chaos energy.
"Though, you both possess the element of death right? And I… I have the element if Chaos… So… Which one is really superior?"
"I really want to test that theory! I smiled a vicious grin although I was still curious if which one would prove the most lethal in combat.
I think William knew the truth about which element really was superior but if he really did know it sure don't show from his face and response.
"W-What?…
He had a genuine look of confusion but I suspected there's something more to his blatant lack of awareness.
I really wanted to know just how strong the chaos element could be. The death element seems like it would be very powerful… Of course it is, considering death is something natural… A a constant cycle of of death which in ultimately brings about life…a real yin and Yang relationship.
"Hey… Nepharia…Was it?"
William said her name was Nepharia earlier if I recall correctly.
'Her names really sounds like the of a Queen or Empress honestly It was one of the coolest names I've heard since being in this world gahaha.'
A few seconds went by but still no answer,so I decided to speak once more. I started to wonder if she could even hear me in her scythe form.
"Nepharia… I know that you're in there, you know? Have you really been bound to him all this time or is this just a facade?"
"…"
"I've already analyzed your status earlier,so there's no need to hide inside that scythe anymore. You can come out now."
Suddenly the sound of a seductive,soothing and alluring voice of a elegant mature woman echoed from the smoke just loud enough for anyone close to hear.
"So…You've already discovered me huh? It seems I couldn't conceal my presence from you any longer… You've got quite the eye and that aura of yours…"
"My name is Krios… Any other questions you may have, I'll answer later,Well… That's assuming you won't interfere with me now, huh? But seriously tell me something… Do you honestly have a mutual co-existence with this weakling human emperor?"
Suddenly the dense black smoke became increasingly thicker and death element particles could be seen coming off the captivating figure who stood behind the smoke.
As her face and body came into view I could only imagine how she would actually look. Then the smoke slowly started to clear making her visage became mildly visible to me.
From what I could see through it thought definitely caught my gaze and attention immediately.
The majestic and enchanting woman that looked like a goddess was wearing a black and red combat and magic enhanced dress.
From what I analyzed using my eyes of chaos it seems to be enhanced with insane defensive stats and powerful regeneration abilities
She smooth tan skin which had no imperfections and even had the same abyssal black hair as me. It came down to her a little past her mid-back swaying ever so gracefully in the wind and gleaming ever so brightly in the sun catching my eyes immediately.
On top of her head, she had obsidian black horns dragon horns sitting that curved inwards like a crown somewhat similar to my own.
Her eyes were crimson red, they even seemed to glisten and hold charming effects even managing to put me in a trance-like state for a quick second…I just couldn't help admiring her.
Then her black combat dress that hugged her stunning and voluptuous figure fitting every curve perfectly.
She looked like she was a perfectly crafted sculpture that captured her otherworldly goddess-esque beauty. I can't even lie, it caught me off guard but also made me even more intrigued about her.
Her face was one of a woman in her early 20's, even though she was thousands of years old. All divine beings retain their youth but was also the case with a lot of dragons and she was no different in that matter.
She would be considered a 10 on the beauty scale from earths standards. There was definitely no doubt about it…
Most men would be giving her all their resources and even risking their lives if she had lived in the world of Alvesia this whole time. She would be the cause of wars if not careful… Seriously she's that good looking.
She looked up at me with cold eyes not blinking or moving a muscle as if she was calculating and trying to read my every move.
"Why should I answer that? Like you said…If I don't interfere you'll answer my questions later right? I'll do the same then."
It felt like she tried reading my mind so I instinctually activate my [Eyes Of Chaos] and tried to resist her skill which seemed to bring out her opponents lust and desires.
It seemed had a skill similar to my [Eyes Of Chaos] being able to cast illusions or overpower any being weaker than her.
They couldn't resist her skill if they looked straight into her eyes with the only in difference in hers being lust related and mine being intimidation.
I activated [Eyes Of Chaos] and stared deep into her still and icy cold eyes which did not blink or shy away.
I didn't move or blink either…So we ended up staring into each other's eyes for what seemed like an eternity, it started to feel quite awkward after awhile.
Feeling a tad embarrassed by our little staring contest, I then looked up and seen a small frown appear on her stone-like emotionless face.
I felt like maybe she was furious and confused of why her ocular skill didn't work on me even though I clearly found her captivating.
The reason I could withstand her ocular skills is not because I didn't find her attractive or have a greater skill…
The real reason is that my prideful nature repels the power of lust unless I consensually accept it.
I mean let's face it, In this world I've have otherworldly handsomeness and charm, I'll soon have a harem of my own one day I guess.
I could have one right now if I really wanted to with no problems however, I'm not a needy man, I won't prioritize and lust over women like them cringey mc's in some manga and novels.
I curled my lips curl into a confident grin which I guess made her pissed even more. She started to looking at me with a deadly glare packed full of killing intent and divine haki which didn't seem any stronger than mine.
'So…She has divine haki too huh? I wonder if I can see her stats and skills…

'Damn, I figured as much. Although I can see her rank because she wants me to see them. I'm still not strong enough to see any of her stats or abilities…'
She then looked at me and created what seemed to be a giant spiritual phantasmal of her face using her soul and willpower alone.
She smirked a psychotic grin revealing her 2 sharp razor like canines which was utterly terrifying but to me it was little more than an intimidation tactic.
I didn't even budge against her giant projection instead i retaliated with one of my own. It was just as intimidating and both of our giant projections let off waves of killing intent and matched our smiles.
Nepharia was surprised that Chaos could use divine haki and control his killing intent as well as could.
She started taking a slight interest in Chaos before she quickly remembered the one who she had been bound to since coming to this world…
She slowly looked back and forth between me, William and Valentine as well as throughly analyzing the rest of the battle field and the gory mess that was now covering it.
She shook her head slowly smiling a mischievous grin the entire time. William and Valentine noticed something off about her but they didn't have the courage to question her. The could only grip their fist tight and shake their heads in disbelief.
She raised her small and delicate hands above her head as white orbs of light started to from into a gigantic sphere that hovered over the piles of dead bodies surrounding us.
It looked as if she was somehow trying to collect all the leftover life essence from those who had just recently died in the battle against Chaos.
Although, she wouldn't be able to collect life essence from the bodies that were blown away since they were only tiny chunks of flesh scattered through the battlefield now.
As she continued to collect energy, I only stood smiling and watching closely.
Though I was actually really trying to figure out what she would try to do next now that she has a crucial choice to make.
Was she willing to risk It trying to make a run for it now that's she was free again?
I noticed that the emperor and his right-hand man were sitting there with their mouths hanging wide open. They had several beads of west dipping down their foreheads and cheeks.
They were definitely nervous and seemed to noticed her doing something, that I couldn't see or sense.
I turned my head to look at Nepharia again trying to figure out what she was doing. Suddenly I finally noticed the gigantic sphere of life essence starting to float towards her at speeds I could barely even process.
I'm the span of a second the sphere of life essence reached her and hovered in front of her.
It was now impossible to see her face since it's was covered by the light of bright souls and life essence.
The sphere of souls and life essence got absorbed by her body instantly making her glow a bright golden yellow for a few seconds blinding everyone nearby for a few seconds.
After it was finished she returned to her original self all of a sudden. She seemed no different in terms of appearance but she got a massive increase in her energy levels and physical strength.
Also, her mana capacity was now even larger than mine which scared the hell out of me for the first time since I've been reincarnated into this life.
'There's no way I can win against all 3 of them at the same time with the power I have now… And…Even with Indra's assistance, I think it will still prove to be an impossible task…Dammit! I was so damn sure of myself, I was to relaxed! What do I do now?…'
I had to negotiate or ask her to join my side in hopes that she would stand down and leave it everything to me. She was very beautiful but also intimidating so I needed to play my cards right…
'Flattery and compliments won't get me out of this situation but it can't hurt to try…'
I lowered my gaze matching hers and made a gate right behind her without her even having enough time to notice my movements.
I then appeared right behind her in a flash then waited for her to sense me and make her move, all in all I was ultimately testing her resolve and intentions.
She definitely noticed but instead of being surprised and jumping back or defending herself she merely stood still just as I had before not flinching or moving even in the slightest.
We were so close I could sense the warmth of her body which confused me considering she was a death Dragoness…Like aren't they supposed to be semi-immortal and undead beings?
She slowly turned around then looked directly in my eyes again but this time she didn't have the same cold eyes that gazed up at me before but now she had a look of genuine curiosity.
I took this as the chance to make my move and gain her trust before things turned for the worst so I just went for it not fearing rejection or regretting my decision.
I smoothly wrapped her up from behind and started to whisper in her ear so that no one could hear us.
I thought carefully about what my next words would be because she's was in another realm entirely and could probably kill me right now if I piss her off.
I couldn't afford to be careless anymore…I now know that I need to get stronger, not just for me but for all us.
"Nepharia…Listen to me…I'll remove the spell that binds your true power…And… If you let me…I'll also cure the inescapable fear and constraints that bind your heart and makes it impossible for you to love…
I gently caressed her hair and then her cheek looking into her crimson red eyes. I could see her pupils dilating as she stared into my eyes intently waiting for me to finish.
"All I ask, is that you hear me out and see what I'm truly capable of before making your decision based on first impression…Can you do that for me?"
Nepharia's heart started to thump fervently when she heard Chaos's words. She slowly shook her head yes and was now blushing for the first time in front of a man In all her years of existence. She had kept her virginity for 10,000 years which was kinda insane to think about and it was all because of the curse she had since she was born.
She was incapable of friendship,romance, and just any kind of relationships overall. She became anti-social and distanced herself from anyone who ever tried to court or approach her.
It was quite the miserable existence as you may have guessed which made Chaos's words get through to her all the more.
Nepharia looked up at me with sparkling eyes and spoke in a gentle and shy voice making her look 10x cuter and making me fall for her even more,
"Will you really?"
