Sir Reed and Lady Carter shared a grave. The gravestone was embedded in the turf. Engraved on the black stone were their photographs, names, and birth and death dates, all in Chinese. At the bottom, it was signed by: Marie Reed.

Upon seeing her name, Josie Reed covered her mouth, and began to sob. She knelt before the tombstone and began to weep, loudly, her cries full of grief.
