Bab 26: Little Princess Part 2

The air inside the throne room suddenly became heavy as the tension between Leon and Anzu grew. For quite a long time, Leon could compel to her selfishness, however, with one of his subordinates experiencing something that was very degrading, Leon was thinking at that moment of might be taking a stupid leap of risk.

"You're late."

With all high and mighty attitude, Anzu talked to Leon, and for Leon, it was the usual annoying part that she has. He usually compromised it and let it go, as he did not want trouble. But, this time, he felt that it might be okay for some trouble.

"I got bored and your little bitch there was at the right time and at the right space. So, I couldn't help to have a little fun with her."

Hearing the B word, made Leon sure that he should cross the line this time. He stared sharply at Anzu and did not hold on releasing his killing intent at her.

"What did you call her?"

"Oh, something in your ear? Okay then, I'll repeat. Your…little…bitch…"

The way Anzu mouthed the last three words was truly a mockery aimed at Leon and the whole people in Dikar. It generated laughter of her seven men, but as for the guards that were present there, it was something that Leon knew surely boiled their hearts. He saw how they held back and clenched their spears tightly, with some of them gritting their teeth. They surely would like to strike Anzu and shut her mouth, yet, none of them dared to as Leon knew that they knew how strong and fearsome Anzu is. And because of that, Leon knew that he had to protect the pride of the people that are working under him.

"You're a little bitch."

As soon as Leon's said those words, the laughter of Anzu's men quickly ceased. Everybody, including Leon, knew that Anzu did not like anybody talking back at her like that. That will surely incur her wrath, and Leon ever heard stories of how Anzu placed a boy who talked back to her like that on the rack, the ancient torture machine where the punished one is pulled by the machine until its body stretched and most times died with their limb pulled out of their body.

Just a boy put on the rack you might say, however, what made it Anzu's specialty were, one, the boy was only in his early teen, so, around 10 or 11 years old, which meant, she did not see age as a reason to not to. And two, she did that in public, in front of the people that lived in her domain, which meant, of course, the boy's parents as well. And yes, she loved her public executions, whether it was official or not.

"Well, well, someone had grown into a daring young lion."

Leon saw how Anzu now had lost her smile and with a cold expression, she stared at Leon. He could also feel her killing intent gradually rising, and for sure Leon readied himself for any incoming attack from Anzu.

"So, what if I am?" Goated Leon at her.

"Then it means I will just need to spank you to show who's the master."

"Fine, You don't need to come. I'll send it to you."

Leon was about to rush toward Anzu when someone stopped him by holding him from his behind. Both of the person's arms were wrapping from under Leon's armpit and it locked him tightly. Leon looked back and saw the most unexpected thing.

"Durbin! What are you doing? Let go of me."

Leon tried to struggle out of his lock, but Durbin held him tight.

"Milord, please, I'm begging you. Do not throw your life away now. We still need you."

"Damnit Durbin, she tortured Jolyn, and don't you forget of what she did to you as well?"

"Yes, milord. However, you are no match for her. Please, don't be easily throwing your life away for us."

"Durbin…"

Durbin's words had calmed Leon a little. His hot head had made him forget how the people in this castle are putting their life for him as they believed in him, even though their living standards are still in the gutter. This is why every single guard in the palace worked for him, not because of fear, and more of respect.

"Oh, why did the lion have to be tamed by some old man? Not fun."

Anzu's squeaky voice broke his calm again. Leon was about to retaliate when something unexpected happened in front of him.

"I'm Durbin, on behalf of everyone in Dikar, apologize deeply for what our Lord Leon had said. Please have mercy on him, milady."

Durbin prostrated in front of Anzu, begging for Leon's life, which was something that Leon never wanted to see. He gritted his teeth and clenched his fist real tight as this happened because of his fault.

"Mercy? That is something that I'm known for not having. Your master here had made me feel uncomfortable, and that feeling would not go away unless I see a proper amount of blood spilled."

Leon saw that as an opportunity to meddle, but as he was about to step to the front, Durbin beat him to the opportunity again.

"Then, take me, milady! I will replace milord to receive your punishment!"

"You? An old man? Your fragile body would only entertain me for a short time. I'm not interested."

"I will not fail you! I swear on my family name! We do not submit to surrender that easily."

Anzu did not speak as she heard that, which meant that she might be thinking about the proposal. Then, after a few moments of silence, with everyone in the room waiting for her decision, she finally spoke.

"Fine. I'll be expecting your entertainment then. Bill, Ron, take this man to the dungeon."

As she gave her command, two of her man, one with red hair and the other who was a tall and slim guy, approached Durbin and grabbed him. They raised him from the floor forcefully and started to drag him away.

"DURBIN!"

"IT'S FINE MILORD! IT'S FINE!"

Leon felt the agony of not being able to do anything. He felt himself a failure, of not being able to protect the one man who truly trusted him.

"What a loyal subject you have. You should be proud of it." Again, Anzu mocked Leon, which Leon could only retaliate with a hateful stare.

"Oh, what a scary look. Are you sure you want to do that? There won't be any other servant that will protect you this time."

Anzu laughed in her all of her pride. Her facial expression showed how she was enjoying all of it. She was about to leave when she turned to Leon and asked a question that Leon did not expect.

"Oh yeah, how was your investigation regarding the new card mage? Any result?"

Leon could not hide his surprise when Anzu said that. This matter was supposed to be known by him, Durbin, and a few guards that were sworn not to tell anyone about it.

"Come on, tell me. You went to Yakul for that right?" Anzu's creepy smile had returned as more mockery was thrown at Leon.

"What? Do you think you're the only one that got the news? You know Leon, village people like to gossip. Which is why, when something big happened, they will tell stories."

Leon finally realized from where Anzu got the news. There was someone from the Village of Yakul that must have told people in other places about the incident with the bandits.

"So, share with me what you find."

The cat has been out of the bag. He was not liking it, but Leon submitted to the pressure.

"I did not get any, except his name."

"Oh, and what is it?"

"It's Ahli."

As soon as Leon said that, Anzu's expression from a happy-go-lucky, quickly turned into someone that was wicked.

"I see, no wonder he used the same system as that bitch."

"Anzu, how do you know about his system?"

Anzu was back with her smug and creepy smile before she answered Leon's question.

"I saw him with his female companion in the forest near Cine Village, as well as around CIne Village. I gave him a couple of tests and that young man named Ahli is surely able to use his card mage system properly."

Cine Village is near the Town of Shar, and from that info, he quickly realized how true Mr. Granger's words were.

"What kind of system is that?"

"It's Gicma. The oldest of all the systems, just like how the TCG in our world is."

"Gicma?"

"Yeah, they use mana system with differentiation sources and therefore it made the game can be quite hard for a beginner, as it depends on luck to make your mana flow work. But, once you mastered how the flow works, technically you are the master, the expert, the king."

Leon heard Anzu's explanation diligently, without realizing the hatred he had before had gone from his heart.

"How do you know so much about it?"

"Because before that young man, there was another who used the same system. Unfortunately, she did not on the same page as us."

"Wait, how come this is the first time I heard about it?"

"Because I never let anyone know, not even Joe."

Leon knew then at that point Anzu might be a more dangerous person than he had known. She had kept crucial information to herself, which meant she had her own plans, and one of them might be overthrowing the leadership of the current card mage's organization.

"Who was she?"

Leon demanded clarity regarding the new card mage's matter and therefore he pushed Anzu for the answer. Anzu, grudgingly answered it, as if she did not want to say the name because something bad happened between her and the female Gicma's user.

"Her name is Jena. She was with me 3 months ago, unfortunately, she did not stay long."

"And what about this Ahli? What's his relationship with Jena?"

"It's her boyfriend. She talked quite often about her boyfriend that played TCG with her. I remembered that one time when she spilled out his name casually. However, how could that boy come into our world? Even Jena. That is something that we need to check. Someone is summoning more card mages and we do not know about it. Someone is planning on something."

Both of them became silent as each of them seemed to be quite deep in thought about the new information. However, Anzu did not dwell too long, as she was back at her happy-go-lucky persona, or at least she pretended to.

"And that's the info that I will share only with you. Don't you dare to tell anyone about it. Okay, then, if you need me again, I'll be in the dungeon, playing with your old servant."

Leon saw Anzu walking joyfully toward the door, but, when she almost reached the door, she turned and spoke a few more words at Leon.

"Oh, by the way, you don't need to worry about taking care of the new card mage. I've sent Awang for that."

With that, she ended it with her creepy smug smile. As she left the room, Leon again fell into deep thought. He really need to meet this Ahli guy. However, with Anzu being around, he would not be able to sneak out. For now, he is hoping for the new guy to not die before he meets him.
