The mere five words had an unimaginable impact on Wang Kai's psyche.

Wang Kai stood with his mouth agape, his eyes brimming with tears, his emotions simmering like a volcano on the verge of eruption, as he recalled the various torments he had endured recently.

He knelt before Lin Fan, head bowed, hands covering his face, wanting to cry but not daring to, his body trembling with suppressed sobs, still fearful that his crying would attract the zombies.

"If you want to cry, just cry, there's no need to hold it in," Lin Fan said softly, feeling the other's repression, understanding the helplessness in despair, knowing that crying it out would make things much better.

He too had cried before.

In the pitch-black night, he stood on the balcony looking at the bustling city, turning back to gaze at the tranquil house, knowing the throngs of lights outside did not belong to him.

Alone, he envied the happiness and beauty of others.
