Before climbing up behind him on the bike, Ivo insisted they both put on their helmets. He usually didn't care, but Davi figured that despite his good mood he was still shaken about what had happened.
The ride to Vice's apartment was quick and uneventful. Despite the lit up skyline, the roads were usually empty that late at night.
Vice's neighbourhood had some hole-in-the-wall bars open all night, that gathered their own modest crowds, but everything was quiet in his apartment block. They rung his doorbell, but again got no answer.
Davi took a pocket-knife out from his boot and picked the lock. He didn't want Ivo to notice his distress, but he was starting to panic.
Why had Vice left? Could something have happened to him after getting to his apartment?
He was in a dangerous line of work, and his competitors held grudges. Maybe one of them went after him.
