Bab 156: Put up with cruelty

So they'd been right to assume the mind-scrambler was involved in the divorce. Ivo had to wonder if Lucas would have left if Guilherme hadn't tested it out on him. 

Had he been trying to leave the marriage from the beginning, or was this just the final insult? 

Lucas looked levelly at all of them, that haughty tilt to his lips like a slash in his impassive mask of a face.

He could regret marrying Guilherme, now, but he hadn't in the beginning. It was easy to imagine him dismissing Ivan's warnings. He thought he was getting the golden goose. A rich man who would not only jumpstart his career, but ensure that he would never suffer the 'humiliation' of his family's 'bad investments'.

He would be rich for life.

He should have known better.
