Bab 116: Memory is a curse

Ivo froze with the fork halfway to his mouth. Yet another avenue he hadn't considered.

"He'd go to all that trouble just to lose track of him -- me?" He paused. 

Vice chuckled. "Hey, it could happen." He shrugged. "I mean, I've worked with Vital for some years now, same with Davi...well, not 'worked' in his case, but ran in adjacent circles. I can't say I've heard anything about an Ivaldo. Or about Vital having a secret honey stashed away somewhere."

All of it was a lot, Ivo let his head fall forward between his shoulders. "I wish Vital would just call."

"There's a good chance he won't come clean," Vice said, sucking his thumb into his mouth to lick some stray sauce. "I mean, he's not the most forthcoming guy at the best of times."

"I can't just not know."

"Yeah, I agree, mano, you need to know." He gestured vaguely with the fork in the air. "But I think you should tell Davi about it."
