"Puchi!"
Blood spurted outwards, dropping to the ground with a metallic stench. The beast's struggle died down with only a few jerks from its limbs due to reflex.
Erian drew back the sharp horn from the skull of the Iron-skin Dwarve Rattus, using his other hand, he absorbed its nuclear energy within the corpse. He noticed one thing about absorption. If an organism is dead, his rate of absorption would be swift, and wouldn't even be up to a second. But if the organism is alive, it appears the rate of absorption will be very slow depending on how strong the being is.
This absorption was very fast and within the blink of an eye, his system's nuclear energy storage increased by a thousand points.
Cleaning the horn with the skin of the beast, it sounded as though two metals were colliding against each other. Erian gazed at the fur with reluctance. He would really like to skin the corpse for its iron skin but he didn't bring any equipment for that. Moreover, the blood would most likely attract other beasts over. Therefore it was best he left this area.
On his way, Erian occasionally found a few syringes containing at least 50 to 100 points nuclear energies within. But he felt like it wasn't worth it. And would most likely take up space.
His focus was on those with at least a thousand plus nuclear energy, then he would definitely pick them up.
Suddenly, Erian stopped. Recognising the couple of collapsed piles of syringe mountains, this was the place where the Twin-horned crocodile had perished. But the large body of the beast was no where to be found! There wasn't even a trace of the corpse anywhere.
This instantly made Erian raise his guard up because something larger or of equivalent size would have definitely eaten or dragged the corpse off to be eaten.
In the dark of the night, Erian could hear noises coming from the grass before that was in front of him.
The forest stood arrogantly with vines and grasses filling up the periphery of it massive body. Most syringes have likely been buried and covered by the bushes.
The forest wasn't exactly Erian's worry right now. He was staring at a particular spot in the large grasses by the edge of the forest. The grasses were almost two meters tall and they shook occasionally with faint sounds of bones being crushed.
A beast was having its meal right there. Erian squinted his eyes and carefully stared at the forest but his system was useless this time. If he didn't lay eyes on the beast its information wouldn't appear before him.
Just as Erian was deciding if he should attack or not, the shaking grass suddenly stopped and the noise also came to an abrupt halt.
Erian frowned. Had he been exposed? If so, it was better to attack than wait to be attacked.
Just a stomp and Erian crossed five meters. Another stomp of his feet, and he was already by the edge of the forest.
The wind howled loudly as he picked out in that direction.
"Bang!"
The tall grasses around the impact were ripped to shreds with the others flattening to the ground by the pressure.
"Squeek!"
The familiar noise echoed through the forest making Erian relax slightly, but he quickly tensed up. He needed to finish the beast off quickly since he was at the edge of the forest and has no idea how dangerous the beasts inside the forest could be.
Quickly withdrawing the horn, his feet moved and he sped through the grasses, dividing the large area of grass like a sharp blade, as soon as he reached the large rat, its eyes had turned red as it leapt towards Erian, its jaws snapping towards him, rapidly snapping through the air like a grinding machine.
As they were about to collide, Erian suddenly smirked. His left heel shifted and slammed heavily to the ground. Instantly, the grass ten centimetres around his left foot pressed heavily to the ground as his body changed direction with insane agility.
Both Erian and the beast narrowly passed each other, side by side. One in the air and one in the ground. Just as Erian took a large stride to the right, his left foot heavily stomped the ground.
A crunching sound echoed and both metal shards and glass shards exploded outwards like hidden blades.
Instantly, Erian made use of the force and with incredible flexibility, he stabbed the horn through the ear hole of the beast, piercing deeply into its skull.
There was a squishing sound and then a loud squeak from the beast before it dropped dead. Erian's breathing was calm. He was getting skilled dealing with the beast already.
Just as he was about to absorb the nuclear energy of the corpse, Erian's expression changed drastically.
Erian seem to have sensed something. Not enough time to withdraw the horn, he kicked back at the corpse before him, using the resultant force from the kick, his body dived far backwards.
Just as he landed on his shoulder about to roll backwards to his feet, a sharp claw ripped past his arm, tearing a piece of his clothing as he narrowly avoided being ripped by the claws.
Rolling back to his feet, Erian made a few weird movements as he slithered backwards like a slippery python.
Then he skidded to a stop when he was at least ten meters away from the beast.
Erian's face was extremely solemn as he gazed at the beast before him.
This beast was really similar to the Iron-skin Dwarve Rattus, but its skin wasn't as grey and dull as the others. Instead, it appeared quite luscious but was completely jet black. Its fur glistening like a tempered steel as the system identified the beast before him.
