Bab 35: 35 Rivals
As they were on stage, Midnight asked them if they were ready to fight. Before saying yes, Bakugo warned Ochako that he wouldn't hold back, so it's best for her to withdraw now. But Ochako refuses his offer and says she was read to Midnight. Bakugo also agreed, so Midnight started the fight.
Ochaco immediately rushes at Katsuki, forcing him to counterattack rather than dodge. Ochaco knows that Katsuki starts a fight with a right hook but still gets hit with one of his explosions. Ochaco is blown back but remains mostly uninjured.
Katsuki tells Ochaco that she should have dropped out of the match and blasts what he believes to be her body. However, Ochaco sent her jacket through the dust as a decoy, and Katsuki fell for it. She swiftly gets behind him, but Katsuki blasts her away with his incredible reflexes.
Ochaco kept low to the ground so Katsuki's explosions would destroy the floor of the stage. She kept attacking repeatedly to keep his attention on her while she floated several dozen pieces of debris into the air high above the stage.
Ochaco releases the debris from her quirk, effectively attacking Katsuki with a meteor shower from above. She believes that no matter what Katsuki does in response, she will be able to get in close and touch him. However, Katsuki unleashes a massive explosion that takes everyone by surprise. He blows away all the debris at once while keeping Ochaco back at the same time. After unleashing the explosion, Katsuki's hand begins to shake, and he acknowledges that it was a close call for him.
Katsuki says he figured Ochaco had a plan to win because she is friends with Izuku. Ochaco is shocked he managed to foil her plan with one explosion. She stands up and tries to keep fighting despite betting everything on the meteor shower. As she rises, Katsuki comments that it's "time for us to get serious, Ochaco," using her real name for the first time instead of a nickname. However, Ochaco has reached her limit and falls once again, to Katsuki's surprise. Even so, she tries to keep fighting and crawls toward Katsuki. Ochaco recalls memories of her past, specifically about how her father encouraged her to become a hero, and eventually passes out from exhaustion and her injuries. Midnight checks on her and confirms she's unconscious. She declares Katsuki the winner of the match.
"With that, we have finished the first round's final battle!!
Now don't go anywhere; there's a tiebreaker between Eijiro Kirishima from Class A and Testsutestu Testsutestu from Class B."
Eijiro and Tetsutetsu arm-wrestle to decide the winner. With their quirks both active, Eijiro ultimately wins after Tetsutetsu's iron arm cracks.
Despite his defeat and his initial disdain for Class 1-A, Tetsutetsu befriends Eijiro.
"Ladies and gentlemen, with this we have our contestants for the quarter finals!!
Izuku Midoriya vs. Shoto Todoroki!
Tenya Ida vs. Ibara Shiozaki!
Fumikage Tokoyami vs. Haruto Kageyama!
Katsuki Bakugo vs. Eijiro Kirishima!
After a short break of five minutes, we'll start our blood pumping quarterfinals!" Present Mic announced right after the tiebreaker finished.

Meanwhile, in the waiting room for the contestants, Momo, Fumikage, Shoto, and Haruto were sitting there and having a talk.
After hearing everything Fumikage and Todoroki said, Momo spoke, "What you said is all true; I agree with it." He paused and looked at three of his best friends in school and asked, "Are you guy's all idiots?"
"" What? "" All three of them asked her.
"I mean, come on, Haru, you think the guy who got the details about our class schedule can't get the list of the students and look for a quirk related to feathers?"
We three stood there with our mouths agape, looking at Momo.
"Why didn't you think of that, you idiot?" Soto shouted at me after coming out of stupor.
"Yeah, big man talking here. You just swallowed everything I said."
"Well, that was because what you implied almost made sense. Key word 'almost.' "
"Not you too, man."
"Anyway, another thing is, I don't know why you two are being hostile to him just because he didn't utilise his quirk in the previous two rounds. He just has to fight you two at the right time and fight with what he got, right?" Momo asked both Shoto and Fumikage.
"Anyway, guy's. It's my mistake; I agree. But I'll fight you guys with my physical strength only; I won't be using my wings." Haruto said towards Shoto and Fumikage.
"And why is that?" Momo asked him.
"Well, because I can. And it's time for the quarterfinals. The first match is between Shoto and Midoriya; try not to lose if you want to fight me in the finals, and one match after that it'll be our fight, Fumikage. Good luck." Patting on Shoto's and Fumikage's shoulder, Haruto left the room.
