Bab 9: Hunt

It's been already a day since Reku and his orc conpany decided to flee from the frontlines and move deep towards the Gorkatak mountains.

Their destination, a small settlement belonging to their nameless clan a few hundred miles away from their current position.

According to Reku's memories, they have to traverse large forestry, valleys, slopy mountains and several settlements that belonged to other clans before finally reaching their destination.

It will atleast take a whole week for them to reach their destinatio, that is if something doesn't happen that may delay them.

Currently, Reku alongside two orcs can be seen crouching behind a hedge of bushes and shrubs, spears and swords in hand.

In front of them, a wild boar.

"You know how to throw a spear?" Reku turned his head towards an orc on his left and asked quietly.

"Been doing that for years, can say me is actually a good thrower." the orc boasted, his voice hushed as a whisper.

"Good, position yourself over there and when I give the signal, you throw your spear towards the boar, understand?" Reku pointed his finger towards another hedge of shrubs located north west from their position and eventually west from the boar's position

"Can do that." the orc then nods his head and began making his way towards his designated position.

"And as for you.." Reku then turned his head towards the orc on his right before continuing,

"You stay and follow me."

Nodding, the orc then gripped his axe tightly, seemingly eager for the attack to begin.

After a minute of waiting, the other orc has finally arrived on his designated position, and as such indicating Reku that he was free to start the signal and attack.

'Here goes nothing.' Reku thought before standing up from his previous crouching position and held his palm up for everyone to see before closing it.

The boar seemed to hear the rustling of the brush and as such, turned towards Reku's position and began growling at him.

Little did it know there was currently an incoming flying spear heading straight towards him.

In a matter of a few seconds, the boar was pierced on his left loin and began to shriek in pain.

Wasting no time, Reku and the other orcs immediately pounced on the wounded boar, slashing it using their swords and axes.

After the boar was finally dead, Reku tasked the other two orcs in carrying the body whilst they make their way towards their small encampment located just a kilometer away.

His body smeared with the boar's blood, Reku couldn't help but sigh as he walked along with the two orcs who were busy chatting with each other.

Just how much bood he has seen both in his new memories and his previous old one.

Well, this is the path Alexandro (Reku) has chosen, and as such, has no right to complain.

If he was only content with everything he has on his old life, then maybe he wouldn't die so early at the age of forty and end up in this new body he has, maybe he would be able to live longer and would probably had a more happier life, complete with a family, maybe even sire grandchildrens.

Realizing he was actually regretting his past decisions, Reku then shook his head from such thoughts.

'The only thing I regretted is invading croatia and Slovenia, if I was only patient and focused on crushing the rebels, then I wouldn't be here in the first place.' Reku thought as he, along with the two orcs continued their way towards the encampment.

After a few minutes of walking, they finally arrived at their camp where Jan and the rest of the orcs were waiting.

"That's quite the big beast." Jan said before making his way towards me and patting me in the shoulder.

"Yes, with this, we would be able to fill our stomachs today and make more smoked sausages enough to feed us all for two more days." Reku responded before making his way towards the campfire, with a few wooden poles erected besides it.

With that, they spent the next hour butchering the boar, afterwards, they roasted the meat while separating the remaining offals, organs, and intestines to be used in making the sausages later.

When all of them were finished eating their fill, Reku then instructed the rest of the orcs to gather around him and watch.

"I'm going to need all of you to watch how I'll make the sausages so that you would quickly learn how to do it in the future." Reku said to them before asking the orc tasked with gathering water from the nearby stream to bring the water to him.

Afterwards, Reku then repeated the process from the other day in how he made the sausages and began demonstrating the process towards the eager and curious orcs.

After another hour or so, he finally had a bundle of fresh sausages tied up on each of the poles while getting smoked at the same time by a crudely made smoker below.

"So that's it, finished." Reku said, spreading his arms wide towards his finished product.

Most of the orcs were practically drooling over these new kind of food he had just introduced just in the other day.

"I have a question." Jan suddenly raised his hand and approached Reku.

"What is it?" Reku responded, curious to the question.

"Where exactly did you learn this?" Jan finally asked the only question that was bugging on each of the orc's mind.

Reku however, technically cannot tell them he was actually a human from another world who woke up in this strange body and new world.

And as for the knowledge in how he can create sausages, he learned it in his previous life after undergoing a survival guide course where they were taught in how to survive in multiple terrains without having the need to rely on modern equipment and tools.

And as such, he had no choice but to lie... in the most stupidest way possible.

But considering he has the cause, the one where he had the back of his head smashed in the other day.

And since also the orcs were really superstitious and had lack of reasoning in the first place, they tend to believe miracles quickly and easily.

"I don't know, It just... popped up inside my mind out of nowhere." Reku responded, scratching his head like it was the common thing to occur.

"I see." And just like that, Jan never bothered to pursue the question any further and just went back in examining the fresh sausages Reku made.

"Let's wait a few hours for these sausages to be smoked before we can resume our march towards home." Reku said to the orcs, a tired look on his face.

Afterwards, he made his way towards his own roughly built tent before eventually falling asleep.

Bog watched with an uneasy expression as another Terkit assault was once again repelled by his own forces, albeit now with much more difficulty and casualties.

"How come the devils never ran out of strength." Brigo, Bog's second in command, muttered out with a complicated expression.

By now, the Gorks has long since referred to the Terkits as Devils because of their unrelenting orc wave attacks and their frenzied ferocity.

"Yes, it seems the entire Terkit race is crashing down upon us." Bog responded, staring at the massive mob of Terkits fleeing from his pursuing warriors.

"I also came to notice that some of them are barely even equipped with a proper weapon, I even saw one using a branch as a club." Brigo added, a sense of uneasiness audible on his voice.

"They're getting desperate, and I don't know why." Bog responded.

"The more desperate a warrior is, the more deadlier he become." Brigo stated, earning him a nod from Bog who was currently watching the rout of the Terkit forces from afar.

And as for why he didn't participate in the battle personally just as he used to do in these past few days, it's because of a certain incident that happened during their last battle.

Yes, an incident, during the last battle, a group of warriors positioned in their rear mutinied and went on a rampage spree, trying to leave the frontline and killing a few hundred in the process.

That's why Bog decided to volunteer to stay in the rear for now and overseer the entire battle from behind.

Though he hated to be in the rear during a battle, he had no choice but to do so since his troop's morale are getting worse by each day.

And warriors with low morale aren't much different to a mob of disorganized rabble that may break ranks if given the opportunity.
