"You believe those men trying to court you are the bunch of people you can't just hang out with?" I ask her.

"Absolutely. Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you… and I've felt that if ever I married one of them, I would certainly feel so. That's one of the reasons I immigrated to America.

"Well, despite the two countries sharing the same language, I expected a culture shock, especially when it comes to how certain things are called here. And I was right. I call them lorries, Americans call them trucks. I call them windscreens, Americans call them windshields. I call them chips, Americans call them French fries.
