"Yes, this whole forest was located on an island far away from the mainland, where the gate to the next realm is located."
"Hence why it's also better and easier for us to explore the demon realm when you've evolved and have fully developed wings so that we can fly out of here," Vera explained to the oblivious humanoid demon that certainly didn't expect the revelation that he was currently living on a very huge island somewhere in the demon realm that was filled with forest in all parts of the island.
Vera then continued her explanation.
And to make her explanation clearer, Vera decided to grab a stick near her and started drawing on the dirt ground beneath their feet.
"I don't know about the actual scale, but we're currently around here." Vera drew a bowling ball-sized circle on the ground.
"And the mainland where the gate to the next realm existed and where most demons were located was…" Vera walked 7 steps away from her current location before stopping. "Here."
She then drew another circle to indicate where the mainland of this realm was.
But instead of drawing another bowling-sized circle, Vera drew a large circle that was big enough to fit both Blake and her standing side by side and lightly spreading their legs inside it.
"And this is how big the mainland was compared to the island we're currently on," She said after she finished drawing the huge circle.
Blake then took a good look at the two circles. And without even focusing, the size difference between the two was very obvious that it could possibly fit five of the island that he was currently living on onto the mainland and there would still be plenty of free spaces left.
"That's a very huge island…" Blake muttered out loud.
"Of course, that's where most of the demons in this realm lived," Vera replied in a matter-of-fact tone.
"I wonder about how the other demons looked." Blake then recalled all the demons he had met so far.
"So far, the ones that I've met were very similar to the animals that I had seen back in the world where I came from. Do all the other demons also look similar to animals?" Blake asked.
"No." Vera quickly answered.
"The demons that lived here are known as demon beasts. They were different from the other demons that lived in this realm."
"What's the difference?" Blake looked at Vera with eyes full of curiosity.
"Well, to be honest, other than their physique, they are not too different from the demonic beasts." Vera started explaining.
"We, you and I, are what they call a humanoid demon. As our name suggests, we looked incredibly similar to those humans, but considering we exist first before them, then we could also say that the humans were the ones who were similar to us. The more the humanoid demons evolved, the closer their appearance will be to the 'human look'."
"In this realm, there are also humanoid demons, but in this realm, they still look slightly different from us. The third realm is the place where we could find other humanoid demons that looked just like us."
"Slightly different? How? What is the difference?" Blake asked.
"Well, you'll see it for yourself when you see one."
Blake then nodded hearing Vera's answer.
Seeing him nodding, Vera continued her explanation, "Then we have the demon beasts. Just like what you said earlier, they looked similar to animals in different worlds, and sometimes you can even find a very similar copy of those demonic beasts in the many worlds out there."
"And different from the humanoid demons that looked more and more similar like a human the more they evolve, the demon beasts didn't have that, and the more they evolve, the more their special characteristics will be strengthened."
"But after they evolved enough, they would also be capable of changing their appearance to a humanoid one since their body most likely had gotten so big that it would be hard for them to do anything in their original size."
"How big would they have to be that they couldn't do their daily activities due to their size?" Blake muttered.
"Just imagine a walking mountain," Vera replied.
"A single one of their steps was enough to shake a quarter of the land on this island."
"And not to say the demons that lived in an even deeper realm, to say their body is as huge as this whole island is not an exaggeration."
Upon hearing Vera's explanation, Blake couldn't help but swallow his saliva as he thought about those creatures that Vera had just explained to him.
'Then it made sense now that Vera said it's normal for demons to conquer a world. I don't know what kind of abilities they had, but just from their sheer size, they would certainly be enough to defeat my world in a matter of days…'
Looking at Blake's pondering expression, Vera spoke,
"If you're wondering how strong they really are, just say that if they were the ones who tried to conquer your world, it would only take them at most, five full minutes."
"And that includes introductions to their name and how they will rule that world from that point on."
This time, when Blake heard Vera's explanation, he completely froze in place as he couldn't imagine if that would really be the case with his world.
And a look of fear, worry, and dread started to creep up on his face.
Realizing this, Vera quickly said again, "Don't worry, that wouldn't be the case since demons that strong rarely conquer worlds on their own. And from hearing your story, the possibility of the demons trying to conquer the other world that was connected to your world being a subordinate of demons with such strength was low due to how dragged the war is."
"You still have time to grow strong and take over your home world," Vera reassured him.
Blake then heaved a sigh of relief as the worry that filled his mind lessened tremendously.
'I need to evolve as soon as possible…' Blake thought to himself.
And after regaining his calm, Blake then asked the question that he had when he heard Vera's explanation earlier.
"Vera, does that mean, we humanoid demons were weaker than demon beasts?"
"No, of course not." She instantly replied.
"We may not have their size, but we're generally good at something else."
"Although not all demons are like this, most demon beasts rely on their physical strength and their bloodline power as their main, strongest weapon."
"On the other hand, we, humanoid demons, mostly rely on our spells to generate as much if not more power compared to the demon beasts."
"If I were to compare it with the example that I gave you earlier, if a demon beast was capable of shaking a very large chunk of this island with a single step, the humanoid demons could easily shake the whole island with a single one of their spells."
"But that was the stereotype, not all humanoid demons rely on their spells, and not all beasts rely only on their physical strength. There were humanoid demons that were also capable of shaking this island with a single punch, and there was also a very adept runemaster from the demon beasts."
Blake listened to Vera's explanation closely as he made sure his mind recorded the information correctly, just in case he was to meet other demons and he would remember not to assume their strength and their attack style just because of their appearance.
Seeing the understanding look on Blake's face, Vera continued.
"And lastly, there were the variant type demons."
"This type is the one that you should be able to identify the moment you see them."
"Their appearance was anything but like the other two types. From a floating eyeball that shoots lasers to a giant blob of slime that ate whatever touched its body, their existence was unique and how they fight are all different, depending on how each of them looks like and their abilities."
"You should generally be careful of all of the three types when encountering them in the outside world, but the variant types are the most unpredictable ones and you should pay extra caution when you see them."
Blake once again nodded his head in understanding as he noted down all the information that Vera had given him and arranged them in his head so that it would be easier for him to recall it whenever he wanted to.
I was supposed to publish this tomorrow so... here you go, an early chapter...
"Rrr?"
"Yes Robus, we're here and they're over there. I need to make some preparations first. If we're too close to them, then they would be able to hear or smell us. This is a good chance that we shouldn't miss."
Blake didn't really know whether the demonic wolves were similar to the wolves that he knew back on earth that had good hearing and an extraordinary sense of smell.
But just in case they do have them, Blake took the extra measure to stay quite a distance away while doing his preparations to defeat the wolves that were currently sleeping some distance away from his current location.
Ever since Vera told Blake more about the demons in general, the different types of demons, the strength of demons living in the lower realm, and the fact that the never-ending forest that he lived in all this time was only a small island compared to the mainland in the first demon realm, Blake become more curious about the demons and his desire to travel the demon realm had also become bigger.
And as per his agreement with Vera, he needed to reach level 15 and evolve first before she would accompany his journey to the mainland and go to the gate that was connected to the next realm.
So just as usual, Blake continued exploring the forest with Robus, but he did it with even more fervor than before.
Now it has been several days since Blake learned how to use his wings. He and Robus had traveled even deeper into the forest while keeping on eating every demon soul they met along the way.
Just as Blake had predicted, even though he had literally eaten any souls that he could get, even the tasteless bland one that he's starting to dislike as his palette for eating souls grew, he was currently still stuck at level 10.
Blake hadn't met any strong creatures for the past few days, but today, he and Robus were quite fortunate as they stumbled upon a group of sleeping wolves.
And when Blake observed them closely, Blake realized that there was something unusual about the wolves that he usually met along the way.
When Blake scanned each of the wolves, Blake noticed that one of the wolves was much, much bigger than the other wolves sleeping around it.
Not only that, other than its significantly bigger body, the wolf also had a silver streak painted across its light brown fur, which the other wolves didn't have.
That noticeable difference might not mean anything since Blake had never seen for himself what the huge wolf with the silver streak could do that the other wolves couldn't.
But from his prior experience and knowledge, Blake would have to assume that the silver streak means something and that the big wolf was possibly special compared to the other wolves.
Be it the alpha demonic wolf, a mutated demonic wolf, or something else that he didn't know, Blake decided to target that wolf first and get rid of the unknown variable that it brought.
And to do that, of course, Blake would use his new single target spell that he had perfected for the past few days.
It still involves the earth spike, which was why Blake didn't go near the wolves as the summoning of the earth spike caused a very noticeable sound and vibration on the ground, which could possibly wake up the wolves and made him lose the perfect chance that he got now to do a surprise sneak attack.
So after making sure that he was far enough that he could barely see the wolves anymore, Blake cast two earth spikes before plugging one out of the ground and told Robus to also plug the other one.
"Let's go near them now. Follow me and make sure you walk on your tippy toes and don't make too much noise." Blake said to the humongous gorilla which clearly didn't have a good build for stealth.
But of course, Robus tried his best.
Being a gorilla, Robus usually walked with his 4 limbs on the ground.
But after Blake told him to walk on his tippy toes, Robus tried to stand up like Blake and raised the ball of his feet, essentially relying on his two toes to support his giant body.
"r, Rr.." (Blake, I think I will fall…)
"No! Don't! You'll wake them up! And don't take my words too literally! Just use your hands to walk like usual!" Blake quickly said when he heard Robus' voice and turned his head to see what the gorilla was doing behind him.
Hearing Blake's voice, Robus quickly lowered his hand and put them softly on the ground, regaining the balance of his body without falling or creating any loud noise.
"Just walk like usual, but try to avoid breaking as many sticks on the ground as possible, okay?" Blake looked at the huge gorilla while scratching the back of his head.
'Remember Blake, although he had somehow gotten much smarter than before, he was still quite simple.' Blake reminded himself as he himself tiptoed and walked past the trees, getting closer and closer to the wolves.
Robus also followed behind him, bending his body left and right to make sure he didn't brush the tree trunks with his huge body, and placing his limbs on the ground slowly to minimize the sound that he created with each of his steps.
Soon, the two of them finally arrived about 50 meters away from the wolves' location, and Blake quickly stopped moving a single step further as he was afraid that it was already the maximum distance that he could go before the wolves would notice him and the almost impossible-to-miss huge gorilla.
"Let's do this just like what we had practiced before, Robus." Blake half-whispered to the gorilla.
Blake then carefully placed his earth spike on the ground near him before walking around the area to find something that he needed to do his sneak attack.
After finding two trees that were somewhat parallel with each other, Blake called Robus over before casting two single darkness tendrils spells with each hand.
"Pass it to me," Blake spoke after he attached the two darkness tendrils to the two trees.
And as if they had done this several times before, Robus quickly gave the earth spike in his hand and positioned the base of the earth spike towards Blake.
Blake then attached the two darkness tendrils to the base of the earth spike just like what he had done before with his first prototype of the spell.
But apparently, Blake wasn't done yet as he told Robus to hold onto the earth spike that was already attached with the two darkness tendrils before casting another two darkness tendrils and attaching them again to the earth spike, essentially attaching the earth spike with four darkness tendrils at the same time.
'Different from me, Robus was much stronger than me. He should be able to get the maximum potential with 4 darkness tendrils attached.' Blake thought as he made the last-second changes to his spell.
After that, Blake walked up to the front, the sharp edge of the earth spike, and drew a set of new runes that he had just created two days ago.
The new set of runes resulted in the tip of the earth spike having a dark ball of darkness attached to it.
"All done," Blake said after he saw the small dark ball of darkness stay at the tip of the earth spike.
"Wait for me here," Blake said after he walked back towards the direction of his earth spike.
