CHAPTER 127: Almost Sweet

Xian stuttered and waved her hands, trying to shift the topic, saying, "A-ah, I mean, I was a burden to you, weren't I? Also, earlier, when you mentioned not asking for your help, I didn't mean to get you into this mess."

Duke Mothelm's eyes darkened with her inexplicable messy thoughts. He did his best to make her feel comfortable and happy, but why does it seem that it went in another direction that he wasn't expecting? He thought that she would be overly happy and excited, but why did she appear sad and heartbroken?

He narrowed his eyes and couldn't understand it. 

Xian continued her speech after fidgeting. "I was looking around to find evidence, but what I met was the rapist earlier. And I… I killed him." She looked away, feeling resentful towards herself. Alastair crossed his arms.
