Serena was lying on her side, her back pressed on Charlton's chest while his arms were wrapped around her tightly so that she would not fall from the sofa. She could feel the rise and fall of his chest and his even breathing but she knew that he was not asleep.

She knew that they needed to talk but she couldn't open her mouth first. Yes, their lovemaking, if it could be considered that, was everything she imagined it would be and more. However, after the high, reality came crushing in. She was a married woman and she let this happen.

It would be a lie if she were to say that she did not think about it. Truth was, during the long nights when she could not sleep, she would think of Charlton, of them, their past, what could have been, might have been, and most of all, what could be.
