Bab 65: Chapter 65: Charlotte’s ball XV

Emily knew that her words were not so convincing especially that they were only standing there together at her insistence. However, she knew that she must say that to make her next words more believable. Thus, she ignored the look Leonard was giving her and instead began to talk.

"Actually, the reason why I asked you to accompany me is so that I can propose a cooperation between us. You see, like the way you want to marry Annalys, I too want to garner his grace's attention enough for him to propose marriage to me one day."

Though Leonard knew that he's already over Emily, for a moment, he still felt her words prickle something in his chest. He ignored that feeling and instead, he said, "If that's your aim, then you can do that yourself. I don't see what's that got to do with me."

"But it does. In fact, you should not dismiss my proposal so quickly as we both know that it would be beneficial on your end. Unless…" Then, Emily chuckled. "Are you jealous?"
