Since signing up for the draft, Mike could participate in the FNL selection camp, where he could showcase his skills in front of many teams. However, as per the agreement with the former Oakland Raiders, now the Las Vegas Raiders, Mike would not show his current level in front of anyone.

It was essentially a secret operation. The Raiders were training and cultivating Mike during this period, and Mike had assured his entry into the Raiders.

As there was an intermediary involved, the Raiders were not initially worried that Mike would change his mind and participate in any selection camp to show up in front of other teams. But when Mike's performance improved and he showcased the ability definitely to be picked in the first round, the Raiders Team started getting worried.
