I closed my eyes immediately as I expected the heavy slap to fall in my face, but then, none was coming which is quite bizarre. Opening my eyes, I understood instantly what was needed of the guys to make me safe right now. 

The truth is that she had grabbed their father's arms protectively not wanting anything to happen to her. Well, even if they were mad at her, they still didn't want these things to get out hand, it would be a total disaster especially when they are in the hospital.
