Bab 21: 21. Breakfast Outside
Sebastian wearing casual attire went outside. He could have taken his breakfast inside the hotel, even inside his room by the dint of room service. But he chose the other way. To stroll around and just to have a look at the faces of people living in this vicinity. Outside the hotel there was a big map inscribed on a grand piece of granite stone. He said to himself: I wish I could get a map to the Quick-quack messages, figuratively speaking. The next moment he shrugged his shoulders. He focused on the granite map. He saw what was where on the map. At the center was the hotel he was staying in; to the north there was a swimming pool. To the south there was a playground and a park. As he moved toward the park, he noticed a lot of people were jogging wearing their track suits and canvas shoes. He heading toward the park hoping against hope hoped of finding Andrew in the park.
In no time he found himself inside the park. People regular to this park were staring at him. While rounding the park he was looking at people in order to make sure that whether Andrew was there. There was a tiffin hotel before the park. He headed there. The little hotel was packed. Even people were eating outside the hotel. Many batches of customers were filtering in, many were filtering out. He was looking for one face. But no he could not find the face amid the crowd. But he was not finding that man. This was frustrating. He then scolded himself: You just started searching and expect to find him. This is too childish. Finding a man in hiding is not an easy task. You may not find him and his family even if they are still alive. There is no guarantee that they can be in this state. They can be hiding in a foreign country. Who knows? Say China. There are few matriarchal communities still there. Andrew and his family can be hiding there. Or may be in Africa. Or South America perhaps. No one can predict their whereabouts. We are just searching randomly. Our only lead is the manuscript. Well there is a good chance. He had already come to these parts of the world. So he would not be hiding here. And he had mentioned about these places in his manuscript. And he must have remembered the thing that he had submitted the manuscript to his publisher friend. So an intelligent man as him would not be hiding in these places. He must be hiding somewhere not mentioned in the manuscript.
Now as he was grinding in his mouth some spaghettis and ruminating as well a doubt struck his head. When Papa said them to split and search Andrew at the mentioned places, something in him (Sebastian) was opposing the idea. But he could not perfectly perceive it then. Now the opposing idea – the doubt stared point blank at him: Can this manuscript be a fake one written by some ghost writer of the publisher? May be. Or the manuscript is original? No one can tell. I must stick to my duty of looking for Andrew in this part of the world.
