Ever since Shane had returned from the surface with the settlers, things had started to fall apart in Subcity. The deaths of the Resistance fighters still weighed heavily on the hearts of all their friends and families.

People in the Residential District, who were once hopeful of seeing the rising sun again, resigned themselves to fate. After hearing the horrifying account of what had transpired on the surface they realized how futile it was to stage a rebellion against the machines.
