"Where is she?" A familiar frantic voice asked at the room's doorway. Uncaring for his arrival I lay on the bench staring at the shrine in front. 

Guilt consumed me. Thanks to Enzo, I had tricked him into creating a child, then my carelessness had lost it and I disappeared without a trace. He must have hated me. Now I'd never have a chance to apologize. He was a mortal. He'd either linger as a ghost or reincarnate...

Dax knelt before me, still dressed in his armor, with a few flecks of blood staining the metal dragon engraved chest. 

I glanced at the blood on his breastplate, it was dark. Darker than it should be. I only knew one person, well Orc, with blood so dark. He'd mentioned something about it being that way due to the draconian blood. 

Draconian. This city's enemies. 

No. I shouldn't assume. He'd been nothing but kind and gentle. He knew very well who my 'husbands' were.
