As Brian and I walked down the hallway towards the elevator, I could feel my heart beating faster and faster. I was a lot more nervous than I thought I'd be and I couldn't stop rubbing my palms on my dress since the sweating refused to stop.

The thought of meeting the detective who had been assigned to my case was daunting. For the past few days, since the fainting incident, I tried my best to avoid meeting with the cops cause I just wasn't ready for the questions I knew they had for me.

Brian noticed my hesitation and asked, "What's up with you, Emerald? You look kind of shaky," he said, pointing out the obvious.
