Alistair went back home after he took a ride in the park with Fife. He hadn't even enjoyed the ride because of the smell of garlic, which was everywhere. At this point, he was beyond frustrated with everything. He was starving, he needed to feed, but with all the new laws and restrictions he was finding it very hard to do so. And Theodore wasn't even talking to him as well. It was as if the whole world was against him.
He crawled into bed and decided to sleep, maybe if he slept, he would feel a little better when he woke up.
As he slept, he dreamed, and in his dream he saw himself and Theodore tangled in sheets on the bed. They were both kissing each other passionately while their hands caressed their bodies. Alistair's mouth opened, and his fangs slowly elongated, he dug his fangs into Theodore's neck and sucked his blood until Theodore became limp and life left his body.
Alistair jerked awake, sweat coated his skin. What kind of dream was that? He thought to himself. He laid back on the bed, being a vampire was tough, keeping himself from attacking the humans he saw daily was a hassle. What if someday he lost control and attacked Theodore, he would never be able to forgive himself.
Perhaps this dream was a premonition warning him to stay away from Theodore. If his deductions were right, then maybe it was a good thing that Theodore had chosen to stay away from him.
The little taste of freedom he had tasted away from his family had probably deluded him into thinking that he could be with Theodore. After all a vampire and a human couldn't be together.
Theodore rode home in silence, he hoped Alistair wasn't offended with the way he had spoken to him at the palace today. He just needed some more time to think about what to do.
He arrived home, the servants helped him down from the horse, while they took the horse to the stables, he went inside the house. As soon as he got inside, a servant informed him that his mother wanted to see him. He went to her room, he knocked on the door, he heard his mother tell him to come in. he went inside to see her in front of her mirror being fitted into a dress, it was probably the dress she was wearing tonight to the dinner tonight.
She turned around as soon as he entered the room. "Oh, there you are, sweetie. I have laid down the clothes you are to wear to the dinner on your bed",
"I am quite capable of picking my clothes mother",
"I know dear, but I told the tailor to make you a new outfit for tonight",
"why do I need a new outfit?", she sighed in exasperation at his question. "Because, it's a dinner hosted by the king, we all have to look our best",
"but the king has seen me several times in my casual outfits",
"Theodore, please put on the outfit okay? Do it for my sake", he sighed, his mother always had her way. Why had he even bothered talking to her?
"Fine mother, I will", she smiled at him. "Thank you son".
He went out of the room and headed to his room, just as she had said, the outfit lay on his bed. He picked up the clothes and rolled his eyes at the extravagant designs the tailor had used.
Soon it was time for them to leave for the palace. Despite his misgivings, Theodore donned the outfit and went downstairs to meet his parents. His mother was wearing an elaborate gown that looked like it belonged to a queen, while his father was dressed similarly to Theodore.
They looked like they were going to a big, important party instead of a simple dinner that the king had invited them to.
"We look ridiculous", Theodore noted. "Hush, when we get there, and you see the clothes the others would be putting on, you would be grateful that I made you all dress this way", she retorted.
Theodore wanted to reply her, but a stern shaking of the head from his father had him biting his words. They got into the carriage and made their way to the palace.
They got to the palace and showed their invitation to the guards at the gate, they were let into the palace and escorted to the dining room.
To the shock of Theodore's mother, contrary to her expectations, everyone was in casual clothing. Even the king wore a simple outfit, they had overdressed. Theodore, who stood in the back quickly, observed what was going on and dispersed of his jacket. He handed the jacket over to a servant and rolled up his sleeves. He had warned his mother that this would be a simple dinner, she had refused to listen to him, now this was the result.
