Bab 53: Gentle Threats

Lola led me to the castle gate, where a golden carriage was parked in front of me. A dozen soldiers in black armor stood on either side of the carriage in two straight rows in two straight rows. Katheran sat in the carriage with a black lace veil over her face. When she saw me through the window, Katheran nodded slightly at me.

Lola helped me into the carriage. Katheran sat across from me. She whispered to the valet beside the carriage, "Let's go!"

"Where are we going?" The carriage moved slowly. The sound of hooves clattered on the floor. I looked around the window. The carriage was moving faster and faster. The scenery outside the window flashed before my eyes. I felt uneasy as I looked at Katheran. She seemed very calm under the black veil. She stared at me with her violet eyes as if she had something on her mind.

"Let's go to the Rose Garden!" Katheran said helplessly. "That's Princess Madeleine's garden!"
