Bab 15: The New World

Red POV.

The coughing continued for Morris after he was let go by the torturer. "Bloody hell! I was sure that was the end of me! "He yelled out while rubbing his chest and looking up at the tormentor kneeling and writhing in pain.

After that, Morris takes a few steps forward before letting go of my leash.

"Red !!! Red !!! Shake it off! "He refuted while continuing to shake me. He's trying to get me to see things in a more realistic light.

Over the past eighteen years, Morris has seen a few instances in which I have lost track of who I am.

(Morris gave me a good smack on the cheek.)

"At long last, you've returned... Come, we need to get moving here!" When Morris saw that my eyes had returned to their normal state, he said.

"Are you Mr. Morris? Thank God you are alive..." I murmured in disbelief.

"I owe you a debt of gratitude...but at this point, we have to move quickly..." Morris speaks to me as he carries me through the tunnel and out of the cell where I was held captive.

As we step through the door into the hidden room, Morris pulls the torch down from its ledge, and the door is immediately sealed behind us.

"You can't escape! We will not give up until we have located you!" The scream of the torturer can be heard throughout the entire palace.

"Mr. Morris, I swear I did not kill Catherine... I'm innocent!" While we are traveling, I explain.

"Ss's... It is not necessary to explain. I believe you." Morris provided an honest response while maintaining a kind smile.

"I strongly feel that the person responsible for your father's death is the same person who killed Catherine..."

"Would you please set me down? I'm perfectly capable of walking on my own..." I spoke in a whisper. Although I am still weak, I cannot cause Mr. Morris any more suffering because I know he is also injured.

Morris put me down and signed. He has an uncomfortable feeling about seeing me hurt like this... My beautiful face is covered in bruises, or perhaps it is more accurate to say that my body is riddled with wounds. "It's entirely my fault... I left you alone in this castle. My apologies, "Morris rearranged the hair covering my face as he said this.

As I got up to walk, a grin spread across my face. "Since I was a young child, you've been taking care of me, and now I'm finally mature enough to appreciate it. I need to learn to rely on myself rather than you for support. "My statements were delivered with a strong sense of belief.

"Silly you are... I've been alive for a hundred years. However, your father hasn't let me go because he says I'm still too young. But you, who have only been alive for eighteen years, are considered to be of the appropriate age?" In response, Morris smirked at me and gave me a retort.

"However, tagging along with me could put your life in jeopardy... Every vampire in the land will be on the lookout for me, and I don't want you to suffer because of me, "My goal is to use logic.

"Red, You didn't hear the person torturing you, did you? They are going to locate us, not you. Therefore, regardless of whether you agree with it or not, I won't be able to ignore you, "The states in the Morris region. Before he opened the door leading out of the tunnel, he glanced at me.

As I looked around, I couldn't believe my eyes. The castle is a long way from where we are currently located. "Thank goodness. You're familiar with this path..." I remarked on the situation while observing my surroundings. At this point, we find ourselves in the middle of the forest.

"Your father and I have a lot of secrets, and one of them is the tunnel," Morris murmured as he looked at the path straight ahead. "He would always travel in this manner whenever he desired to pay a visit to his lover..."

As I follow Morris's gaze, my heart begins to race, and I ask, "Lover?"

The comment made by Morris is as follows: "The reason why I leave the castle is to find out where your mother came from..."

"Mr. Morris ..."

We are going to travel to the land of your birth..."

Earlier on, I was confused about how I should feel. I made peace with the idea of dying young. I had given up all hope, but now... one of my dreams is about to become a reality!

------

The trip to my mother's land that Mr. Morris and I were taking got underway. There was complete silence between the two of us as we walked. It's hard for me to say what's going through Mr. Morris's head, but all I can think about is what took place at the castle.

After I left my room, many things happened to me quickly, and I couldn't believe how fast they were. When I thought about it again, I recalled my time with Catherine.

[FLASHBACK...]

"Red, can you please come here..." Catherine kindly called out as she looked at me with a delighted expression.

I cracked a grin and headed towards the garden, where I saw Catherine reading. Even after all this time, I still don't understand how Catherine can leave the castle when it's still daylight outside.

What exactly is it? After asking, I moved over to the other chair.

"Later, the seamstress will come over to take our measurements. As Catherine puts the book away, she remarks, "I hope you're close when you're called."

My eyes widened because I was surprised to learn I would attend the party. It has been a few days since the servants at the castle were preparing for Catherine's engagement. Still, despite this, I continue to exist in my own world. Lady Victoria despised me; she didn't want to see me, so I could only go to places she didn't.

"Are you crazy? "Your mother will never allow me to attend your celebration!"

Catherine gave a pleasant smile, but she also arched one eyebrow. "What exactly are you referring to?" Do you still have the impression that my mother detested you?"

I didn't try to cover up the scowl across my face, which indicated my disapproval. "You're kidding, right? Because Lady Victoria adores me, she appears to be overcome with emotion whenever she looks in my direction."

Catherine let out a hearty chuckle. "All in all, my mother is wonderful. Just be patient with her...she will come around to accepting you soon.

I shrugged a response because I didn't want to argue with Catherine. "By the way, I need some clarification on..."

Catherine looked at me for a moment after finally putting down the book she had been holding.

"Why is it that the other vampire can't walk around in the daylight? Why are you and the rest of the family allowed to leave the house whenever it suits you?

Catherine's face gradually lost its expression of surprise. She responded with a grin while saying, "It seems as though your Butler did not tell you the story of the race..."

When I thought about my Butler, Mr. Morris, I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness. Since the evening of my birthday, he has not come to see me, so I am anxious.

"Yes, Mr. Morris is busy teaching me how to write and read, so he doesn't have time to tell me about the vampire races."

Catherine flashed a friendly smile as she put her hand up. "Because of this, the other aristocracy members and I can view the world during the day..."

Catherine was referring to the large ruby set in the center of the ring she was wearing at the time. "This ring was crafted specifically for me by a powerful Witch to grant me the ability to explore the world daily. Even though I am still in pain, I am choosing to persevere because of this... The same can be said for other vampires."

When Catherine brings up the Witches, I feel a tingle in my eyeballs. Because I don't want to forget that my mother is a witch, I'm interested in learning more about the different kinds of witches. "So, it sounds like the relationship between witches and vampires is going well," she asked.

Catherine let out a sigh and then leaned back in her chair. "The event took place a thousand years ago... However, things are different now... The three different races are competing to see which one is the most powerful..."

Because of this fact, I was unable to conceal the frustration that I felt. Humans have treated the weakest race because they are in the middle of the conflict between the other races over who is the strongest.

Then, where do I stand in each of these three races? I don't fit the profile of either a human or a vampire...

"Some books detail the evolution of every living thing in the world... It's possible that you can figure out how you fit into the category..." Catherine prompted me to stand up by tapping my shoulder and offering a suggestion. "Don't forget the seamstress..." she reminded me before finally entering the castle.
