They continued their travels, and Chrysanthe was starting to get used to seeing the dead bodies of darklings along the way. The war continued, and though they encountered night critters along their way, they knew better than to offend their queen and stop them from reaching their destination.

Chrysanthe couldn't help but feel a sense of unease as the number of dead bodies increased, a grim reminder of the ongoing war. It wasn't the first time she'd seen dead bodies. When she and her friends were still in Calaren Town, it was usual for them to see humans, especially children, die from starvation and extreme cold.

Back then, she couldn't help but think it would have been better for them to die early than to prolong their suffering. The eternal winter and the famine could have been prevented if the kingdom of Dravial had prepared and evacuated the affected people of Calaren Town.
