When Iris went to meet Marcus and Ali the following week, she was unusually silent. There wasn't much for her to do at Lord Kieran's castle, and she didn't think she was ready to meet the ladies of the court of Aisgarth just yet and her mate had agreed that she needed to get educated first by someone who could help her.

Ricci had warned her that the other women previously aiming to become Lord Kieran's consort would try to intimidate and humiliate her. Despite how dangerous Lord Kieran was, many wanted to get that fame and influence that came with the title of his wife.

If she could be honest with herself, Iris would rather not waste her time with the ladies' court, but she knew that the possibility of becoming Lord Kieran's wife was still high as long as the mating bond between them remained unbroken.
