"It was only a matter of time till your actions got back to you," Dana mumbled, rummaging through the high shelves in the vast monarch's study chamber.
Lorn softly huffed in response, the silver spoon tinkling against the tea he was mixing in his ceramic cup, like a soft tolling bell that heightened just how deep the silence in the chamber was.
I grimaced, not saying anything as I wiped the blood off my cheek with the towel the trembling servant had provided. The fearful act alone was vexing. Whether they were used to our presence or not, it was distracting and annoying how they behaved.
I let out an involuntary sigh and sat back down at the large desk as the servant rushed outside with the basin, teetering along the edge of the bloody pool around the crumbled body of one of the noble house's head.
