Stopping the Nightblade from being able to move at such speeds when he attacked was the only way that Gus could feasibly win. And the best way for him to do that was to strip his opponent of the ability to move at those speeds entirely.
While his vision was blurry, Gus was able to partially make out the form of the Nightblade that circled around him. He wore the same armour that Astimiron had worn, armour that protected the body and the lower arms and legs, while leaving the upper parts of the limbs exposed.
'The legs, it's the only way to take away his speed from him,' he thought, as a sharp pain shot through his lower torso as the Nightblades sword pierced his flesh.
"Don't worry about that, either. Years of warfare against humans have taught us some things about your anatomy. I haven't hit anything vital, you'll live. For now. Long enough for you to suffer."
