It seemed like a terrible fate to lack hands, but hands were not the only thing the legs lacked. The fact that the voice that was coming from a disembodied pair of legs was still echoing throughout the dungeon suggested a presence of dark magic that had created a situation so dire that even a leg woman had felt the need to magically shave her legs.

This was one detail that only a woman could have noticed, and for this reason Mariana thanked her lucky stars - she had been born a woman, a being that knew that it took a pair of hands to shave a pair of legs.
