Bab 201: Commence training
Upon waking up, I found myself on a hard surface. It's cold, coarse and is hurting me. I can see an unfamiliar ceiling above me. My head hurts. My neck hurts.
I probably slept in a weird position. I sit up. My hands are covered in dirt. I look around.
It looks like a cave. I can see an opening. But why am I in a cave? Brooding over it won't do any good. Let's stand up and check the situation.
I stand up. My hip is sore. I stretch my body. The cave I am in currently, is not a deep cave. I am at the very end of this cave. I notice another opening in the wall. But let's not go in for now.
I walk out of the cave. The scene I witnessed is not normal. I should not be seeing something like this.
It's hell. No, it's literally hell. Burning land, scorching heat and monsters. It's literally hell. I am having trouble breathing.
It's too hot. Feels like my nose is burning. My throat is parched.
I calm down. I need to breathe less if I want to survive.
My eyes are hurting. It's getting harder to look.
I try to put a barrier around me. But nothing happened.
Why didn't I notice it sooner? I feel no mana from me. Even my <Spirit> is gone. It feels like I am back to being a normal human.
My physical strength is also back to my normal range. So, powers are gone. I am back to being a normal human.
Fuck!! In this situation, I have no power of my own. I go back inside the cave. The cave is cooler and it feels nice.
I guess I should investigate this cave first. That opening from earlier would be a great starting point.
I go inside and look for that opening again. It's a bit dark inside. My eyes aren't used to this darkness yet. It took some time to find it.
When I entered that opening, it was just a small pond. There's water in the room. A circular, not too deep shallow pond is on the ground.
I crouch down and take some water and wash my hands. Then I take some water and sniff it. It doesn't smell foul and looks clean enough. I take a sip and taste it.
Tastes like normal water. Maybe not. It definitely has way too many minerals. I can literally taste the earthiness from it. Is it from a natural spring?
But it seems that this is edible. I have at least found a water source. I drink some more water before going back to the cave.
It really is dark in here. I need to get some light, secure food and find a way to defend myself. There's no telling what will happen?
I go outside once again. This place is the textbook example of hell. A burning, ruined world. Unsuitable for living.
My current situation is that I am a normal human. I am not the harbinger. I don't have any mana. I can die if I am careless.
I have to be very careful. This cave is on a slope. Maybe I should slide down. But that wasn't necessary. There's a road leading down from here.
I start walking slowly. Because of the heat, I am sweating buckets. Maybe I should find a way to store water. I need water if I want to stay outside for too long.
A bottle or a drinking pot would be great. My field of vision is red. Is it me or the entire scene is red? Like the sky is red. The land looks red. I haven't seen any life yet.
I arrive at a plain field. I can see burning flames a little away from me. The heat is unbearable.
Maybe I should go back. But I have to explore ahead. Otherwise, I will just procrastinate. It's a bad thing to do.
Suddenly I see someone moving. I tense up. What could be moving? I wait for a bit. But it came in sight soon.
It looks like some kind of a creature but what is it. It's the size of a rabbit. It has two ears like a rabbit but it's not a living thing. It's skin is falling off like it's rotten. I can see black spots all over it's body.
It's teeth are sharp and pointed. It's not your everyday rabbit. It's a zombie rabbit.
Do I have anything? Any kind of weapon…I have none.
I am staring it down. It hasn't made any weird movements but I am not moving either.
I check my surroundings quickly. It could be just distracting me while others are surrounding me. But, it's alone. I have to be vigilant.
I check my pockets. I have nothing there as well. I take off my shirt. My fists would be my best best until I find a weapon.
I don't wanna be bitten. I wrap my shirt around my left arm. I can parry with it and attack with my right hand.
If possible, I would like to move away. However that was a wishful thought. The moment I moved my legs, it jumped on me. It took a big jump and was coming at my face but I blocked it with my left arm.
It's biting on my shirt. Thank goodness that I made a temporary shield.
Now, I unwrap my shirt and trap it inside before tying it up. It moving around so I have to be quick.
I hold it by the knot and smash that thing into the ground. I keep smashing it like a rag until it stop shaking. My shirt is dripping some sort of liquid.
I open it to check. Yes, that thing is definitely dead. I can see the bones shattered to pieces. It didn't hold its integrity.
(Congratulations on your first kill. You have killed a killer fang. You have earned a reward.)
I hear that and a small knife appears in my hand. It's half the size of a chef's knife.
(Your objective is to survive in this place. By killing monsters, you can earn rewards and level up.)
This inorganic voice reminds me of Samantha. This is kinda similar to that time but where am I? I guess, I have to survive to know.
Now, let's go back. My body can't take the heat anymore. I have to start my preparations soon so I won't have to be stuck here.
