Bab 82: Planning the path ahead
I have received a hefty payment so I decided to splurge. I wasn't a really frugal person to begin with. If something caught my eye, I would buy it.
I didn't spare a second thought. Because I had no need of extra money. When I was working as a miner, I got more than what I was expecting.
The rent of my house covered the utility bills. Electricity and water was virtually free. I didn't have to pay for tuition as I didn't go to school after elementary school. That said, my education didn't stop.
I bought books and read them. And I think I have the knowledge even if I don't have the academic education. The rent was low as the building was almost empty anyway. Only three persons lived there aside from me.
I had a lot of money saved up so when something caught my eye, I just bought it. That habit is still present.
When we went back, I was surprised. Hazel, Aura and Fiona are talking to each other. They look rather relaxed. Maybe because they have many things in common.
"I'm back."
I say that and they look at me.
"Master, you are back. So how was it?" (Hazel)
"Eden, have you been a good girl?" (Aura)
"Yes, mama." (Eden)
"It was so so. I got a job as an adventurer. I had my first paycheck so I decided to splurge."
I brought out all the things from my storage. I shopped a lot. It was 5 gold coins worth.
I had 20 gold with me. Now I have 15. I asked Fay and she gave me a proper explanation.
Seems pretty good. One hundred copper coins is equivalent to one silver coin. One hundred silver coin is equivalent to one gold coin. And one hundred gold coin makes a platinum coin.
They really use platinum as a coin. But the budget of a normal household is around 40 silvers a month. 20 gold coin would last them for a whole year even if they splurge a bit.
An adventurer can live for months without working with that much. The inn is cheap. 10 coppers a night with dinner. Pretty cheap. So I am a bit rich, I think.
However the reaction of Fiona is not something I had expected. Fiona is holding her head with a look that clearly screams one thing. It was a look of despair.
"Why do you look like the world is about to end? Is this not enough?"
I asked her. I thought that it probably wasn't enough but is this really that inadequate?
"Not enough…how many people do you think we are feeding? We only have 6 mouths to feed not 100." (Fiona)
"Oh…. I totally thought I hadn't bought enough."
I was relieved that it wasn't short or anything. She was just a bit confused. Fay is breaking down the situation to her.
I hope she calms down. And besides, two more people will join us. I still haven't talked to them though.
"Fine, we will start the cooking." (Fiona)
"Should I help?"
I can cook and I think I am decent. Besides, I was the one who proposed this idea. But Fiona rejected me saying that it was her duty to cook for me. Surprisingly, mostly the women are in charge of the cooking here and they don't want give up that position.
Hazel who never showed any interest in cooking or Aura who flat out rejected the idea of cooking is actually helping Fiona.
Eden said that she will also help. But the main cook is probably Fiona. Others will only help by watching her.
I sit on the sofa and relax a bit. For now, I have accomplished my goal of coming to planet Jupiter. Now what?
Should I just stay here or should I exact my revenge? No, I am not the vengeful type. I would not do it. Still I want to learn the reason.
(System, can you connect me to my parents?)
(I have already explained the situation to them. They are okay with it.)
(Fine. So the preparation..)
(No need. I have taken care of it. They will arrive in half an hour.)
She worked fast this time around.
(Clive, I have something to talk to you about. I will be there in your dream tonight.)
You will? It has been a while since I have seen your face as well. I would love to see your face again.
(You certainly know how to please me.)
It wasn't intentional but if you are pleased then I am honored.
And our conversation ended. But what could she mean when she has something to talk to me about?
I will think of it later. And time passed. The cooking is done. My parents arrived and Fiona greeted and apologized to them.
But I think they have nothing against her. It was Fiona who did it anyway. It was a good time. I asked them if they wanted to stay to sightsee but they declined.
They will come again and see me. Our relationship has been improving so it's good. I wanted to have a good relationship with them and it is happening.
I have no relatives left aside from them and if it wasn't for my <Spirit> they wouldn't be able to come back anyway.
This is a second chance for me. I should cherish it. Oh..and the ladies had some cuts on their hands.
Hazel, Aura and Fay have some cuts on their hands which I healed. Apparently they tried to use the knife to cut some vegetables but failed. Eden just watched them mess up. And the food was scrumptious. As expected of a professional chef.
It is peaceful so far however, System coming to my dreams can only mean one thing. Something is coming and I have to prepare for it.
