The seriousness of Kwiecień's case and the nervousness associated with it became clearly palpable when Lechoń saw not only Michalski near the interrogation room. It seemed that several big names were anxiously awaiting developments. People at every level, reaching to the highest, hoped for Kwiecień's confession and for Lechoń to make it happen.
Adam himself hoped so.
But what would he do if Kwiecień continued in denial?
Lechoń swallowed his saliva with difficulty. He would find out only during the conversation with his client.
Adam politely bowed to the assembled senior prosecutors. He stopped in front of the door and took a deep breath. He needed to calm the pounding heart that was screaming for him to turn around immediately and never have to deal with the monster that was behind the wall again.
One deep breath was definitely not enough. Adam was forced to take several of them. Only then was he able to cross the threshold.
