Bab 1: Chapter One

She sighed with relief as the door closed behind her. Today's rush was so long, her feet ached and her back hurt. Being a server was not an easy job, but she preferred it too the other jobs she's had. Setting her keys down on the kitchen counter, she made her way to the bedroom. Pausing ever-so often to stripe off an article of clothing. First her shoes, then her pants, and next her shirt. She did not mind sleeping with her socks on, she did not like being barefooted. When she reached the bed, she stripped off her bra and pull the oversized her she left out on. The bed felt like a soft welcoming pillow after today. She closed her eyes and listened to the sound of the rain. Sleep slowly taking her.

She woke up to a blinding light and pounding headache. She tried to move and felt the grass and dirt beneath her fingers. Shocked she bolt right up causing her head to feel like it exploded. She tried to open her eyes, but the sunlight was too bright and only caused her head to pound more. Maybe if she laid back down and covered her face, she'd wake up back in her bed. She used her hands to cover her face and laid in the soft grass. The wind blew against her bare legs causing her to shiver. The fact that she not only felt pain but also cold told her this was not a dream. However, she did not want to accept that possibility yet. After laying there for what felt like an eternity, she finally removed her hands from her face. The pounding headache had finally subsided, and she was able to move, and see, again.

Looking around she released she was in an open field of grass. Trees surrounded the field on all sides. She lived in the city so, wherever she was, she definitely was not near home. She still wore just her shirt underwear and socks. Not exactly dressed to be outside during a windy day. The most annoying thing now was how her hair kept blowing in her face. She checked her wrists and found a hair tie to pin her hair up. Her hair was not long like most girls. She preferred to keep it four inches below the shoulder. It made it easier to manage, and she did not have the patience it took to grow out her hair. She stood up and looked for the direction the sun was in.

She had remembered reading something about following the sun. Having grey eyes did not help with that either. People think blue eyes are the most sensitive to sunlight, but it is, actually, grey eyes. You just do not hear a lot about grey eyes due to it not being a common color. She stood at five foot tall and weighed at a hundred and twenty pounds. She was constantly picked on because of how small she was. So being out here, with no idea where she was, she was quite aware of how much danger she was in. Even a coyote could easily overpower her. She paused just outside of the trees. She really did not want to enter the trees, but it not like she had much of a choice. She could stay in the field, but there's no hiding places. However, in the trees it is harder to spot danger. It was a lose, lose situation.

If it were dark her black clothing and black hair could help her hide better. That also came with a bigger disadvantage though. She cannot see in the dark. Even now, as a grown twenty-four-year-old adult, she still slept with a lamp on. Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the forest. She was able to see better due to the shade the trees provided. she kept her eyes constantly moving as she slowly walked.

"Follow the sun and you should find help soon." she whispered too herself.

If she were not alone, and knew that there was no danger, she would have enjoyed being there in the forest. After all plants were her favorite hobby and past time. she loved to study them and grow them. From what she could tell, she seemed to be in an oak tree forest. That did not narrow it down any. Oak trees are native to North America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. However, she knew she could not be in Africa. Too much greenery, and she was always told Africa was a desert place. Then there is also the fact that oak trees can grow anywhere around the world. She walked past so many trees, and still found no single evidence of civilization. Tired, and chilled from the wind, she looked for a tree to climb and rest in. Being short made it harder to find one. Finally finding one she began to climb but stopped when she heard a twig snap behind her. Panicking she hurried up the tree as fast as she could. She climbed as high as she could as well before looking down. What she saw was unbelievable.

Two lizard looking men came walking into view. Their scales were brown, and horns laid on their heads. One was smaller and had yellow markings, the bigger one was darker and had bright red markings. From what she could tell they had to be huge. They were both taller than the lowest branch. They looked to be wearing what she could only guess was hide leather skirts. Their hands and feet had long black claws as well. Claws that could easily end her. Silently she let go of a branch with her left hand and pinched her leg. Not a dream. She must have lost her mind then. Perhaps she was dehydrated or delirious from hunger. And just like that her stomach let out a growl. Both Lizards immediately looked up into the tree right at her. Her breath caught in her throat as their orange eyes looked into hers. Fear had seized her and refused to let her move. She watched from the corner of her eye as one moved out of view. She screamed at herself to move. Yet she could not even make a sound.

She could feel her hands lessen their hold on the tree and began slowly slip. She was going to fall and there was nothing she could so to stop it. She closed her eyes and did what she could do to brace for impact. Her back hit hard against a solid frame. She could feel the scales arms wrap around her, holding her in place. She tried to wiggle free but was unsuccessful. He had her, and he was not going to let her go. His scales felt smooth and cool against her skin. His claws dug into her sides a little too hard though. The wiggling had caused one of them to cut her. The warm feeling of blood slowly trickled down her side. She knew he could feel it too by the way his hold on her lessened. The feeling of his scales moving beneath her shirt as he adjusted felt odd. Like a smooth glide, yet easily caught on something sharp. Not wanting to get cut again her held still as he cared her down.

Her back being against his chest left her only able to stare at the tree. If she looked down the only thing, she would see is her chest and his arm. Based on the color of his arm she guessed it was the bigger one that was holding her. Her mind felt blank as she did not know how to process what exactly was going on and happening. She just hoped they would not eat her. The climb down took only about five seconds for him. He slowly placed her feet back on the ground. She tried to take the opportunity to run yet found herself face planting into the other lizard. Her fell on her ass and her stomach let out yet another growl. Both lizard men seemed to look at each other, then back at her. She could feel tears welling up in her eyes. Now was not the time to cry. Once gain the larger one grabbed her. This time he cradled her like a child against his chest. She stared helplessly at her hands as he carried her through the forest.
