Bab 73: Chapter 73 - Leech

Lord Cardis dragged me inside the tent and shoved me on the bed. I hastily got away from him, curling up at a corner, assuming for the worst.

Lord Cardis sat on the other side of the bed, exhaling deeply.

"Are you afraid of me now?" Lord Cardis asked calmly. "Do you speculate that I will do something elicit?"

I couldn't respond to Lord Cardis. I stared at him nervously as he pulled the silk bed sheet close to him along with me.

Lord Cardis placed his palm over my knee, healing the scratches. Then he grabbed my wrist, forcing me to spread my forearm. His hand was cold, and I shivered slightly at his touch.

"Why are you so scared? You were always fierce, unlike my daughter," Lord Cardis said. "Athanasia would always get timid whenever I was around."

I didn't know why I was afraid. I couldn't fathom if it were my fear or guilt. I was groomed my entire life to take responsibility when someone would get hurt because of me.
